We all have different palates . Bains whiskey is highly acclaimed by whiskey critics over seas. IMHO Bains is a great whiskey. In contrast my palate is not really suited for Two Key's or Bells.....maybe with soda water and ice.

Bains I love. Bells I cannot do. We're all different. It's what makes the pleasures of life so great. Taste. Perspective.

I've been training my palette for a while now, to appreciate the whiskeys neat.
Been trying just the popular ones so far (bushmills, tullamore dew, jameson, red, ballantines, two keys etc.)
Most are hectic in neat form.
So far Jameson wins.
Cant wait to try the higher end ones...

^Add a drop of water. Let it stand for a bit and try it again.

Try 12 year old Tullamore Dew

I had some Jameson 12 yr old few years ago. But back then I used to dilute with a lot of water (around 150 - 200ml water per double shot).
I know, its a sin.
But I didn't know better back then.
I recall the Jameson 12 yr old being excellent.
I'm sure the tullamore dew 12 yr wud be similar.

Try it with a few cubes of ice (!shock!), so that you sample the full taste, before it morphs as the whiskey is gradually diluted

Haven't tried this. Be curious about your feedback and comparison to the other whiskies in the Glenmorangie range.

So the only Glenmorangie that I have tried recently is the Lasanta. I don't like the Nectar D'or but I'll grab a Quinta Ruban and I think a friend of mine has the original 10 year old then I'll give my views on all of them once I've had a go over the weekend.

Should be a good weekend :)

Interested to see what the new Tun from Balvenie will be like, all the Tun 1401 batches I've had were amazing.

No but I doubt there is anything special about it.

Just saw it's a malt blend then remembered that monkey shoulder is one too. Wondered how they'd compare.

Oh I didn't see that it's a vatting, interesting. That could be half decent then, I've had some of the single malt expressions that go into Bell's and they're good.
