Anyone going to Sandton Whisky Live Festival next week?

How to do these tastings though? We went to the last one that was in Pta city center, but they had nothing to decant the extra in your glass or spitting bowls :) This meant we got drunk silly very quickly :)

Sandton has both - but why would you want to spit it out? :D

Problem is those guys selling their products werent shy and most glasses were filled more than half... so double to triple every time! This then meant that after a while I didnt know what I was tasting or how it tasted :) but I didnt care to much at that stage :)

Correct - this is why we go to Whisky Live

Are there normally decent specials at the whisky shows or is it just for tasting?

Anyone know what the free deal Friday is all about?
Its at Checkers Liquor Shop

With the huge price difference between the two, I very much doubt it. I have never tried Paddy's.

Google some reviews on Paddy's.
Its very comparable to Jamesons. Some say better.
I guess its up to personal preference.

I will try it this weekend.

Best is to follow them on twitter. Seems like every Friday they have a buy this and we will give you that kind of thing. :)

Today:

(I must say at R49.99 that is not a bad price at all even without the nuts, if beer is your thing of course)

Depends on your whisky budget TBH.
Higher end whiskys often have good specials (but that's like 20% of a R1,500 bottle).
There's also usually a special bottling straight from a single-malt cask - that's usually also pretty cheap.

If you want to get your Jack Daniels, Johnny Black, Jameson etc at a good price, you probably won't. Those are usually priced the same as everywhere else.

Jah, but at 80-90 pounds? I'd rather buy whoever is travelling a bottle of their own. :)

UK prices are incredibly high compared to SA. I was in Scotland in September. Paid 29 GBP (R600) for a bottle of Monkey Shoulder. It's less than half the price in Checkers.

Bains whiskey is my fav whiskey by far.
Jameson is next in line as it was my fav then i tried bains
