We've got the little whiskey stone glasses, but are not using them anymore... just a gimmick thing.

Nothing beats a heavy glass whiskey tumbler :)

Keen to try this...saw it's very reasonably priced too. Must say I really enjoy this thread, have discovered a lot of really awesome whiskeys

Yep. It's this thread that lead me to Monkey Shoulder (now it's my wife's favourite)

We have this bottle for about 30 years . Before that my late gran hid it from my grandfather so unsure about exact age

In my opinion Monkey Shoulder is the best value for money blended whiskey! I really really love it. This is my " go to" whiskey when I feel like a quick dram. It pairs nice with a Toblerone chocolate.

I've never been able to eat anything sweet with whisky. I enjoy more spicy bits. Woolies have Moroccan chicken strips you can enjoy cold, and I find this to go nicely with a lighter whisky.

Mine is the previous Black Bottle. Wife managed to source another two bottles. Think we're all set for the long savings trek to something single malty.

The monkey shoulder is really good. I don't know speyside whisky's so this seemed like a good way to get acquainted. It's very, very creamy almost toffeeish, think toff-o-lux. Citrus flavours come through when you nose it as well as vanilla. Haven't tried it with chocolate of any kind but I believe that it would pair nicely since I'd class it as a 'dessert' whisky. It's not overly complex and the finish could be longer but then it is only R279.

Cheers

Did a quick search online and there is some value. ..couple thousand rand is what I saw but best to take to those who know

Nope, sorry this goes at auctions in the 30€ region, so about R500, it's not really a collectable so I'd just drink it, it's still only an 8 year old whisky
