Part of the appeal of the ODO specials is that they often get travel retail only bottlings. On the minus it's not always easy to find a comparative price.

You obviously haven't discovered Whiskybrother yet ;)

I have been lurking around this thread for some time now.Learnt a lot from reading here .
Bought myself a glen livet 12 year old and gentleman's jack .Disappointed in the livet but enjoyed the jack .I also a. A big fan of jack Daniels. can you guys recommend something similar to jack . Had some glenfiddich in the slow lounge and was hugely disappointed because I heard so many good things

Tried the Bain's and it was just ok .My favorites at the moment are jack and Jameson but need something new .

Maybe try some bourbon then? Makers mark or Knob Creek.

What was disappointing about the Glenlivet and glenfiddich?

Tried any Islay?

I expected it to be smoother. I am used to the smoothness of Jameson and honestly both were not worth the money

I suspect you're not a fan of the "lighter" whiskies. Try the Gentleman Jack, Jack Daniels Single Barrel or Jim Beam. I used to drink a lot of Jack Daniels before, but these days I like the lighter whiskies a bit more. Nothing wrong with preferring a bourbon though :P

Hah! I'm willing to trade it for a bottle of Jack Daniels :P

I tend to associate smooth with boring, but that's just me.

Sounds like what you really need is to go to some events or a bar that does tastings and try some variety.

Spoilt myself for Valentine's day.

Also try the Bowmore 12yo, slightly heavier than the normal Jameson but also not as complex /peaty as some of the ones people like on here (Lagavulin, Laphroaig etc). That Macallan 12 is also pretty good

Wi be traveling and the slow lounge will be my tasting grounds

Most bourbons will taste similar to Jack.
Try:
Jim Beam
Maker's Mark
Woodford Reserve
Bulleit
