It's amazing. Cannot remember the price though...R250 I think. But that includes a tasting with food pairing.

Great, then ill make sure I get my spot booked! Barring the Bains and special edition WB 3 ships I havent had anything else from their range.

I do have the 15 year bains sealed away for later though:)

Hey all, is there any way/place that sells sample bottles like MoM? I want to try out some but some of the better tasting places are to far or not easy to get to.

Not locally, no. It's best to team up with some people on here perhaps and try and put a combined MoM order together so as to save on the shipping and duties.

You can try this guy but I'm not vouching for him. https://dramdiscoveryshop.co.za/
I met him at WhiskyLive, I tried a couple of times to chat to him but he was too busy, although he acknowledged my presence. Eventually I spoke to him and he immediately tried to sell me a bottle of whisky. I told him that I was not going to but a bottle that night and he stopped short of tell me to "F off".

Maybe creating a small tasting group like I do. Everyone brings a bottle and shares a shot with everyone else. You take your bottle home when it's done.

Samples are not worth the money.

Go to as many tastings as you can rather. Much better value for money and much more fun too.

I once made the mistake of going to a whiskey bar in London. I didn't tip the bartender, and from then on he literally ignored me. Like would serve anyone else before me.

Not everyone tips and not all the tip. I do sometimes tip bar staff, but not after somebody being rude to me like that.

This was the first time I came across a brand ambassador or someone working at a stand that didn't want to talk whisky and just tried to make a sale. Anyway, WhiskyLive is my least favorite event of the year, probably skip the next couple of years.

Where can I find these tastings in the jhb pretoria area?

PS thought I'd add that I like the idea of going to someone's house for a whiskey tasting. That also works. You don't even need one bottle per person - in fact, that may already be too much.

I can only drink so much neat whiskey before I don't feel like drinking anymore.
