I noticed the stock levels have increased drastically compare to two weeks ago.

However it is selling for about the same price as the 10yo. No one is going to buy the 5yo if the same price. Watch the 10yo price increase soon.

Mnnn. Maybe that was their strategy

If KWV can do it when introducing the 3Yr....

This is all about money and volume and demand.

Bringing a product to the market 5 years earlier than projected, means more volume and more money for Louis Vuitton Moët Hennessy, aka Ardbeg...

Still a very nice dram though, but price point will be key when it eventually "floods" the market as the strategy implies.

In conclusion: it's a young ardbeg
I think there'll be quite a difference between a neckpour and a deep pour on this one.

I "tasted" it with a friend the other night....after a lot of champagne, wine and dinner. So I'm pretty sure I have no idea what it really tastes like.

May do a whole Ardbeg tasting flight this weekend...will "decant" some of my Beastie into a 250ml sample bottle today.

Personally would have prefered a 5yo in the R400~ range as something to get people into Islay peat. Yes this would be competing with Laphroaig select but I've heard so many mixed things on Laphroaig select it would be worthwhile competing against it with a quality product, even if they had to lower the abv to 43%.

But I imagine it will be worthwhile for them, as probably half of the enthusiasts will stick to the 10/An Oa and half will go for the Wee Beastie.

I'll do both...

I have it on good authority that a 75%/25% blend of Wee Beastie/An Oa is rather good. I think I have an open An Oa so I may try that this weekend.

I haven't had the Corryvreckan yet, but I really must give it a shot. From what I've seen the Uigeadial is more like what I like (tobacco, leather, heaps of peat), while having a very good balance between sweet and savoury, with the Corryvreckan being a bit more "harshly" savoury, without using that word correctly. I'd LOVE to give them a shot, but the Uigeadial for me is going to be hard to beat. The fact that it's price has slowly been declining is also a HUGE plus for me. Think I need to eBucks a bottle to myself...
