I'm guessing one for collection and one to drink? If there are any miraculously left tomorrow after I've been paid I'll definitely scoop them up.

Correct.

Based on the tasting notes. still trying to decide what will pair nicely with this.

"reminiscent of heavily spiced rice pudding with nutmeg and cinnamon, and a coffee bitterness tinge in the background"

Not whisky related, but I placed an order via the Bottleshop.co.za site. Yes, I know, I know, but I had a voucher. It's almost two weeks and the order is still just in limbo. NOICE.

Oh, boy.

I placed an order with them a week ago and haven't heard diddly squat. They have on their site "10-15 business days" but seeing posts in this thread I'm guessing I'm not ever going to see those bottles of whisky arrive.

So, they went bad at the end of 2019, closed down and went into business rescue. A well-known company took them over (Wine Of The Month Club) and promised to turn it around. I lost my account and quite a bit of loyalty points I built up. I am sure it will be delivered, it's just that their comms is a bit bad.

Edit: To put it in perspective, the day after I ordered fromm them (a few bottles in stock), I placed an order on a BF special on an American site. The item is a controlled item and needed their security clearance. The item has already been certified, shipped, and already cleared their first sorting house.

Just a question: did you make sure that whatever you ordered was in stock in SA?

From my previous experiences with them, they would have something on their site and when you order and pay, ONLY then dd they go and source overseas. A lot of the times from MoM, TWE etc...

With ALL the other sites we have in SA to buy Whisky online, I see ZERO reason to use those muppets again, irregardless of them being bought out. It will be the same idiots running the day to day, I'm sure.

I'd love to chalk it up to being new but I should have done my due diligence.

I bought the Invergordon 22yo and Cameronbridge 27yo because they were "good prices" and in stock - now I see there are more 'in stock' than there were bottled by OLP.

Ouch. Call them and hear WTF is going on.

It's actually not the same people. I have some of their ex-employees on LinkedIn. And my order was local wine. 3 bottles. In stock :P

This is definitely the highest ABV whisky I've had so far. The high ABV was overpowering and I found it hard to nose and taste it properly. I did take a few sips at cask strength but had to add water to really enjoy it.

I'm still a beginner and not good at describing smells and tastes yet, so all I can say is I really like this whisky! It was a lot smoother than I thought it would be but also had a lot of complex flavours and a very enjoyable long finish.

When I get a chance I'll do some side by side comparisons with other sherry cask finishes I have and try to write down some notes.

On the WhiskyBrother website they say "The mouthfeel is thick and rich, reminiscent of heavily spiced rice pudding with nutmeg and cinnamon, and a coffee bitterness tinge in the background"

I didn't get any of that, so I guess that must be before watering it down a bit. Or it is just me lol

I'm sure anyone cracking open one of these bottles won't be disappointed!

I would suggest cooling it down a little, the high ABV just evaporates in the mouth and dries up your mouth before you get to taste anything. Same with the nose, the summer temperatures causes the alcohol to evaporate and burns the nose before you can get any flavour. Pour a dram and leave it in the fridge for a few minutes, it doesn't have to be cold.
