The checkers up in Table View by Seaside Village and Table bay mall (I think they're called) have stock.
seaside village got rid of their floor standing glass display, replaced it with pallets of cheap beer and put the good whisky behind the cashiers so you need to awkwardly peer over people who are busy paying to see wtf is there though

w-t-f?

I highlighted some serious price disparities to TAL.
the takealot response was in short - 'go elsewhere then'.

see screenshots attached.

Just so this community knows as well. the Naspers arrogance as shown with DSTV, WILL come home to roost sooner or later. or maybe it wont .
I'm happy to support the makro's, ngf's, whiskybrothers, and others.
it's sad, but also a question of scale i.e. they're too big to look at your query closely, they probably thought you are complaining about their prices and their reply is f-you!

their own whisky prices are quite decent actually, it is their other/partner merchants who have the ridiculous prices, like "ACA Liquors" whoever the fahk they are

Checkers cobble walk also got rid of their glass display. I spoke to the manager, who said it was expensive stock taking up too much space stopping customers from being able to buy wine. I half get it but it's also something that makes me go and browse your store...

The new Checkers Liquor in Brackenfell by the Hyper has a minuscule display and selection.

Practically no Checkers in CPT now has a 'house of fine whisky' display.

Checkers' specials on some things are really good but that's all sadly. I may pick up a new bottle of #68 though.

Such a shame. Picked up some great deals there. A couple of Loch Lomonds, my Redbreast, my second TSW Oloroso Cask after ban ect

weird statement that, pretty much every Checkers liquor shop I know of has only a single shelf of wine lining one wall on the side anyway, a cabinet display on the floor doesn't change the amount of wine for sale at all ... for that reason when I buy wine at Checkers I rather go into the supermarket than the liquor shop

mostly seen ugly pallets of beers stacked on the floor where the whisky used to be, like a damn warehouse floor

Please help is the peat monster a better buy over a Laphroaig ardbeg or even talisker?

Simply should I buy Laphroaig 10 or ardbeg an oa or the peat monster for peat whiskey experience.

I enjoy peaty whiskeys

...so the Hibiki Suntory (Japanese Whiskey) was a lot better than I expected going by 'the reviews' I read online. For me it is not a 3 out of 10 as some said, but decent and at least in the range of a Glenfiddich 18yr or more. Well that's about the fanciest whiskey I had so far. haha.

Hibiki Suntory is awesome Whisky. Mine does not usually last long...

IMHO, Peat Mondter is better than Laph 10 and Talisker and on a par with Ardbeg 10 and An Oa.

Is it worth the R200 or so Compass Box tax over the Makro price of an Ardbeg 10 or even An Oa? No. But definitely once to try and have a pretty bottle.

This is one of the best Whisky's I have had in a long time. Bottles for Checkers exclusively and actually quite rare...in the sense that you have to know where/how to buy it.

I just had to get more....

Thanks for making it even rarer! :D

my 2 cents ... whenever I try Laphroaig I can't get past the distinct smell of stinky feet, it's kind of downhill from there

haven't had Peat monster or Talisker in a while, but I remember I liked them both, I just found the peat to hit you in the face a bit hard ... and that's not just because of PPM, I recently had Octomore which is much peatier than those two and it went down easier than either of them

for me it is Ardbeg all day, every day, when I'm in the mood for peaty whisky
