The back label provides the full story: “The year was 2007. The Ardbeg Distillery was about to face one of its greatest challanges. A broken boiler threatened the very existance of six washbacks full of precious liquid. Nothing could stop them fermenting past the point of no return! The Distillery folk threw off the washback lids hoping for a miracle, and a miracle they received! An invasion was taking place. Millions of tiny beings were descending from the skies and landing in the washbacks… The longest ‘Fermutation’ in Ardbeg’s history had begun, transforming the liquid into the sharpest, zingiest and wildest Ardbeg ever! Unbelievable but true!”

Ardbeg Fermutation will be bottled NFC (Non Chill-Filtered) at 49.4% ABV and is expected to land in stores in late 2021/early 2022.

1616995912200.pngLabels submitted to the TTB have revealed Compass Box No Name No. 3, the third and final entry in Compass Box’s series exploring Scotch whisky’s smoky spectrum.

Compass Box No Name No. 3 is a blended malt composed of Laphroaig matured in a recharred hogshead (75.0%), Bowmore matured in a refill barrel (11.0%), Miltonduff matured in a first fill barrel (6.8%), Clynelish matured in a refill hogshead (6.7%), and Compass Box’s Highland Malt Blend matured in a high toast, custom French oak cask (0.5%).

Compass Box No Name No. 3 will be bottled non-chill filtered and of natural color at 48.9% ABV. Expect an official announcement with more details, including pricing and availability, as we get closer to release.

Any thoughts :D!?

Quite hard to have classic laddie in a peated lineup, Lagavulin 16 is fancy ;D.
Yeah the classic laddie was definitely the odd one out (caramel etc). Was surprised how well the Laphroaig select stood up for the price. My ranking favorite to least in both blind and sited tastings, Laga, Laph 10, Laph select, Ardbeg, and classic laddie - just simply due to no peat. I know I will get dragged over the coals but man that Ardbeg is a very intense dram (note I bought this one).

Soon you'll be wondering how you ever managed without and ardbeg in your life

So while trying to send a few pointers to a friend who's early on in his whisky journey (likes to shop on takealot) aca liquors reared it's head. I'm convinced they leverage off being listed as the default supplier when TA is out of stock. So now I can't just send TA links I also have to explain to avoid aca liquors and supply ball park pricing.

So long story short I mailed TA support about aca excessive pricing. They've asked for some examples and I've sent them a list with aca vs 2 other online retailers but I suggested they run their own query (should be dead simple for one of their devs).

Will see what happens...

Someone else complained to them about ACA and they were told that they are welcome to go buy elsewhere if they don't like the prices...
