Do you live over there? Or where are you sourcing these from?I'm really pleasantly surprised how drinkable some cheap Texas whiskeys/bourbons are.
My current fave neat two-finger is this (ignore the crappy ratings/comments on some review sites) - eminently potable:

Hehe.
Where is the Balcones and the Ironroot Republic stuff......??
I am not a rye fan TBH...Hehe.
I'm no expert, but whiskey afficionadi tell me that as new craft distillers such as Balcones have arisen over the past decade or so the quality of some of the older Texan (and other) distilleries has improved substantially.
A new generation of rye whiskeys, reportedly far better than those of yore, are all the rage, apparently. I have yet to tipple and taste the new-gen rye whiskeys for myself, but will probably do so when there again.
Thanks. Much appreciated.I am not a rye fan TBH...
When are you going over again?
These are the top ones:
With Ironroot, Balcones and Garrison being the absolute best there is.
- Ironroot Republic Distillery.
- Bendt Distilling Co.
- Balcones Distilling.
- Still Austin Whiskey Co.
- Deep Eddy Vodka Distillery.
- San Luis Spirits.
- Treaty Oak Distilling.
- Garrison Brothers Distillery.
I have visited both Garrison Brothers and Balcones - both excellent and have fantastic distillery tours/experiences. Be warned, that you do have to book the tours ahead of time. Can be done online.Thanks. Much appreciated.
I've filed this list in my OneNote's whiskey section.
Could be there again by Christmas, unless Covidians interfere.
