I know the uigedial won best whiskey, but the an oa is something special for me. The same character at half the price. An Oa Was also my first Ardbeg and what probably spoiled all other Whiskies for me.

Ardbeg Ten is always a winner. I'm probably replacing mine with a Laphroaig 10/Select(maybe) though because it's the profile I like a bit more but that will take a while currently...
I really like An Oa. The more wine-driven spirit, rather than Oloroso sherry-driven spirit works better for me.
If you're adventurous get a bottle of Arran Amarone Cask and mix 80% An Oa and 20% Arran Amarone (You can play with less Amarone but any more is overpowering, surprisingly this Arran really stands up against peat). It makes an amazing combination in my opinion better than Ardbeg Blaaack. YMMV.
How is the Laphroaig 10? Ardbeg is not available everywhere. Takealot has it, but the price is highly inflated compared to Makro etc
I would go for the Ardbeg 10 rather than the Laphroaig 10, but in saying that still have a bottle of it on my shelf

the interwebs has many spirited debates about those two distilleries in particular
never really liked Laphroaig myself and Ardbeg was an epiphany from the first sip, recently compared them directly again and there is no contest imo, Ardbeg all day every day
my most recent Ardbeg purchase was from Takealot and weirdly not even overpriced:
but yes, in general Makro is the go to for Ardbeg stock at decent prices
I've seen there is a lot of debate between the two but as you said Ardbeg seems to always come out on top. The price of the wee beastie is good but the 10 year Ardbeg is R 1 017.
