Lots of entry level stuff here tbh....nothing special.

The Craig 21yo OMC was quite fifeerent...lost of red apple and raisins...quite Christmassy. The rest...meh.

The Hibiki Masters was OK....the Kurayoshi was right on the other side of the spectrum: as in really kak.

When I picked up the Glen Scotia 15 a lot of people said the Victoriana is the preferred one so seems you did good. Prices?

Always been interested in picking up the Loch Lomond and Inchmurrin line. Seems like good value (not that I've tasted, mind you)

Did a tasting of the below line up of Loch Lomond. The Inchmurrin 12 was my favourite and wasn't really blown away by the 18 year. All very enjoyable however

R600 for the Victoriana is a steal. I can't imagine complaining at that price.

Where did you find them? Checkers excess?

I like the single grain but only as much as I like Glenfiddich 12 etc. Loch Lomond 12 is probably my pick of the lot. Inchmoan 12 is weird? Not tried Inchmurrin 12. Loch Lomond 18 has got better as the bottle has gone down, more peat presenting. Inchmurrin 18 was a bit boring when I tried it but I guess that was somewhat expected? Seems to be their more standard scotch style.

Hard brand to like with the new pricing...

Can you guys please give me a couple of recommendations?

No more than a R1000 per bottle.

My favourites are, to only name a few, Macallan 12, Monkey Shoulder, Buffalo Trace, Woodford Reserve and Jameson.

Also found the inchmoan a bit odd. I haven't thought about buying any of them since doing the tasting, not really standout for me

Inchmoan is one of my favourites. The Inchmurin 12 is also something I really enjoy. Personally, not a huge fan of Glen Scotia. It's not bad and the Victoriana is probably the one to get, but at full retail prices, there are likely far better options.

What is retail on the Victoriana?

They were going for around R1100.I see WhiskeyBrother is asking R1600 now, but they know the rep for the range - I've met him at the WhiskeyBrother bar on several occasions - and R1600 is nuts for it. Palates differ, of course, so maybe it's great and just not my taste. I just wasn't blown away by it.

Edit - I see that the prices have gone up across the board. Interesting times. Also, there are several batches that have been brought in. The second batch is definitely better than the "third" (but really fourth) batch, in my mind. Better, more distinct flavour profiles.

You have mentioned a Speyside single malt, a Speyside blend, two Bourons and an Irish! What is the favourite favourite?

Plenty great bottles for R1k but need some narrowing.

Hahaha, OK let me try again.

Well, definitely bourbon and then Scotch whisky like Macallan.

If you like Woodford I'd just go for the Woodford Double Oaked and Eagle Rare. Both will take you just over R1000 total.

The Double Oaked is a substantial improvement over the original Woodford.
