R399 is a steal of a price for this. A lot of 10 year olds feel underdeveloped but this hits a good midground. I'm not sure there's a lot better at this price point.

Thanks for this, already delivered earlier this afternoon, good service :) See it is sold out now

Also popped a sample of the mash tun in just out of pure curiosity to see how terrible it is haha

Hahaha, OK let me try again.

Well, definitely bourbon and then Scotch whisky like Macallan.

Think others have covered the bourbon options. I second blantons gold and the Woodford double oaked. The Jack Daniels rye is also pretty good bang for buck.

I find macallan a bit boring for the price to be honest. In that vein you can look at glenmorangie, Benriach 10/12yo (Read the label they have smokey and not smokey). Also check out glendronach 12. Maybe try the crabbie 12yo as a (seriously) lightly peated whisky. I think it's a good daily driver.

Let me know what your laser etched date on your bottle is?

That is not the version they pictured i.e. different casks.

Can you guys please give me a couple of recommendations?

No more than a R1000 per bottle.

My favourites are, to only name a few, Macallan 12, Monkey Shoulder, Buffalo Trace, Woodford Reserve and Jameson.

Bains 15 Year Old
Bruichladdich Classic Laddie
Compass Box Spice Tree
BenRiach The Twelve
Four Roses Single Barrel (only available at Bottega)

They were going for around R1100.I see WhiskeyBrother is asking R1600 now, but they know the rep for the range - I've met him at the WhiskeyBrother bar on several occasions - and R1600 is nuts for it. Palates differ, of course, so maybe it's great and just not my taste. I just wasn't blown away by it.

Edit - I see that the prices have gone up across the board. Interesting times. Also, there are several batches that have been brought in. The second batch is definitely better than the "third" (but really fourth) batch, in my mind. Better, more distinct flavour profiles.

I have tried all sorts of stuff from the various brands out of this distillery and yet to find any I would spend my money on. For some reason, just cannot gel with it.

Suspect I am an outlier though.

I'll second Bains 15.

Glendronach 12 (most find this better than Macallan 12). However Benriach The Twelve is imo even better.

Tamdhu Batch Strength

Sazerac Rye

Eagle Rare / Jack Daniel's Single Barrel

Redbreast 12
