If that is the case, then that should be the driver's problem, not the food company.

This is almost certainly the case, other posts in this thread mentioned it as a way to garner votes by the ANC. Brilliant tactic, actually, the local councillors who want the vote more than likely engineered the dumping, so that they could then use it to their advantage. Heck, they probably told the sick people who to blame, and as idiotic as they are, they fell for it.

Not the same. If I leave food outside your house, knowing you are hungry and will therefore eat it, I am responsible for giving you that food. If I know it was expired, then I am responsible for poisoning you. If I take expired food and throw it in the bin and someone takes it from the bin and eats it, then they are responsible - they know it is thrown away.

First of all, no white man left food outside their houses. The dumb black driver decided to go and give the food out, or did you miss that one. Then, if you do leave expired food outside (throwing it away, this happens every day, or do you never throw out old food?) and someone eats it it's got f all to do with you, it was thrown away, not my problem if some low life wants to eat it.

didn't read the entire story, does it mention that the driver was black?
 
Simply Value Factory Food Shop manager Santa Kotze had told authorities that H Hearn Refuse Removal had been contracted to properly dispose of the expired foods.

H Hearn Refuse Removal manager Henry Hearn said last night he did not have a contract with Kotze. His company’s vehicle was used and a Pholile Park casual labourer persuaded the driver to take the food items to his home in the informal settlement as he wanted to open a spaza shop.

“When people got sick police called me to come and remove the stuff. I removed 14 refuse bags and I warned the casual.

“I only provided the transport. My staff are on holiday. The casuals were picked up along the road,” he said.

About expired food items, Hearn said: “The driver and the casual called me to say they are taking it to his place. They would have taken it to Stellenbosch (landfill site), but people passing by with trolleys said they normally get (expired) stuff there (at Simply Value Factory Food Shop). I personally ate a packet of monkeys (peanuts).”

perhaps mostly based on palpable evidence that the person was indeed that color/race, which is rather untenable in this case (no affirmation to the driver's color)...

No, it is left outside. Does not mean it is given to you to eat. If you knock on my door, and I give you in your hands a plate of food and it kills you, THEN I am in trouble. You FIND something, eat it, and get sick and now look for someone to blame? :erm:

And they said the chicken were racist too.

I know of a hazardous landfill that was sued because they squatter community stole plastic drums that were disposed of.
They made beer in it..they Died a few days later and poisoned the community.

The drums were used to transport arsenic and disposed of .

The importance of education cannot be highlighted enough.

It doesn't matter what race the driver was - he should have said no - and one of the residents of the area brought this on them. The businesses had nothing to do with it. This piece of !@#$!@$ wanted to sell the expired food in a spaza shop.

If the Cape Party was in power, none of this would have happened ;). They would've handled this swiftly. Their officials would have met with local representatives and community leaders and everybody would then shake hands with no one else to blame but the driver.

Why do they no blame the ANC for not feeding them? If the money were not spent on parties maybe they would not be that hungrey that they would eat frot food.

Or what about their comrade selling them vrot food? He knew the food was off.
