My suspicion is that you don't have the resources - which is a pity.

Indeed ... so we must continue to suffer his drivel on this forum :).

That's me folks. I'm off to bed.

Thanks for the discussion. I just intended it to be thought provoking. One thing I can tell you is that I'm certainly hapier than most of you in this county, simply because of my attitude. Black people see it and respond to it positively. Understand that crime is a from of back lash from apartheid and considering the alternatives of civil war - I'll take crime. My view on Minorities have arisen as a result of all the countries I've travelled and lived in. Only in South Africa have I seen a minority conduct itself like a mojority, and this same minority treat the majority and like a minority. The sooner as whites we understand our place in South African society - so sooner we can start working with Blacks to build a better country. It's not an equal relationship, we have to take the time to relate to them - because it's their country - whether you want to accept it or not. Africa wasn't destitute before whites came, it was calm and in balance with its environment - white's have brought the bloodshed and capatalism - and we need to accept that. I agree that blacks need to pave their own way, but at the same time we shouldn't stand in the way either with DA like politics.

That's me. No more posts, this debate will go in circles. All the best and I hope you're re-evaluated your position in South African society.

Not all countries are divided by race.
Exactly - just because in these countries these people are the minority it doesn't mean that they are not going anywere ... my guess is that they accep that they are probably of a different culture, but the country accomodates for that - and that is the idea for us here, isn't it?

This is getting ridiculous. I know (and loathe) Ajak's intentions, but why do you come and post things that are clearly offensive to people that love this new nation (No, not just the land, but the people and the culture). If you dispise us so much, why not just leave to one of those countries you always prattle on about?

Now, if you want to talk contructive critism and start balancing your views, then it is a different story

Teach me! I am game, give me hope? where will that come from, I was never like this, becoming like this, Little sleep while my family rests, BEE/AA, and all the other cr@p I see hear and witness daily, sours any man!

Couldn't agree more. I may one day leave - nobody knows for sure what the future holds. But for now (the present) if anybody really can't stand it that much, why don't they just pack up and leave? I know crime is a factor in most people's minds, but it exists everywhere. Each country has its pros and cons. I got mugged with a knife to my throat in freakin Hong Kong for crying out loud. Did it get reported in their media that a tourist was mugged? No. The reason that other countries "seem" safer is because generally a lot of incidents aren't reported, creating a false sense of security.

Tibs, FYI i could have left for Canada a few years ago, could never get myself to part, have a Company that is yearning for my knowledge and expertise, Then 911 came it was put on hold etc, etc. It's still open I can leave when I want, but i have family here, my side do not bother but the wife's side is an issue! Resources you are wrong, I am not rich but earn enough when and as I want to. So suffer this drivel as we suffer the drivel of your ANC goons daily!

Well considering that we already have 47 posts I think I am allowed to sidetrack a bit :)

Why is that parliament can change teh constitution at it's will? Does anyone know the reason we don't have a referendum over here?

And i think this thread currently has a higher post-per-minute rating than the thread killer ... ;)

What a joke, There was factional war between the tribes regularly, wild and beautiful I must conclude, But it would have been like the rest of Africa and will become so. All the blacks with Money they made will leave like in the North and leave Africa as it wants to be!

Keep in mind that leaving is not as easy as packing a bag and getting a flight.

I think its quite a stretch to say other countries "seem" safer as alot of crime isn't reported. The government-approved, watered-down crime stats for SA are way above and other country I know of. But its not only the level of crime you need to take into account - its the brutality of the crime that is common place here.

No doubt about it, it's not easy. But if people have been so unhappy in the last 12 years, is that not enough time to have properly planned for a relocation? I don't deny the brutality of crime in SA, but the world is not a perfect place and neither is SA. But until change is made, or if not until we have sufficient resources to relocate, I think we should all be grateful that we are not living in Zimbabwe, Sierra Leone, Iraq, Bosnia, Cuba etc.

Indeed, but I think you will find most people are worried where the country is heading - not where its currently at. South Africa is at a cross-road now and many people worry that our current government might be taking us down the wrong road for all the wrong reasons.

But now we are far far away from the topic... :)

We are not unhappy for 12 Years friend. We became disillusioned the last few years as we see where things are leading towards. That where the problem lies.

Lets hope you don't get a visitor with a knife/brick/gun in the night(or day for that matter). :)

White people should remember SA's past.

I remember it all the time when I watch my old Leon Schuster movies. Ah it was wonderfull the roads where so clean there was almost no crime and one could live even with a basic income. Man I love thows movies, it realy shows you how far we have fallen in terms of basic standards of living.

I think they got it all wrong, the "struggle" actualy only started after price control was dropped on food and housing.

I don't get it. Why shouldn't we focus on the past? Unless I am horribly mistaken, the 1976 soweto student uprising was due to the fact that people were unhappy with the quality of education they were receiving. The fact that they were being taught in Afrikaans, is imo, secondary. Considering that this country is facing a brain-drain, and the quality of education children are getting is CONSTANTLY SLIPPING, how the hell can remembering the past be a bad thing, in this case?

Celebrating that people finally (well, supposedly, imo the govt should be doing more) are able to get a good education, is a good thing, and since everyone benefits, no one should be actively opposing celebration in that regard.

You think the people robbing our houses are all well educated, well spoken people with PHDs? I think not.
