Do you agree with the sentiment that white soccer playing kids are lazy?

Huh? So it's simpler to control a ball with your feet than with
your hands?

LOL he means simple in that it has fewer rules.

Are you really going to try to argue that soccer has as many rules as rugby? It takes years to learn the rules of rugby. It takes nowhere near as long to learn the like... what... 15 rules or so that govern soccer? That doesn't mean it isn't a fun and entertaining game. It also doesn't mean it isn't a game requiring skill. It just means it is easier for someone to grab a ball and start playing soccer than it is for rugby. Rugby rules take a long time to learn.

I reckon there are more offside rules in rugby than there are rules total in soccer.

Just don't get him started on netball players, apparently his views on women are even more skewed.

Why wasn't Booth selected in the Bafana Team? he played before in nearly all the games before. Not so at the WC? Anybody knows?

He is not the only one that did not play. Unless you want to pull the race card now.

He isn't actually that good?

I don't rate him as a defender. The guys we had on the field were far better. Bongani Khumalo is such a beast.

Sumo wrestling is also more phyisical but can barely go the distance. :D
By the end of 80 mins the rugby guys are huffing and puffing with hands over their heads whereas soccer players can go on for as long as 120 minutes. Rugby is more physical contact whereas soccer is more physically demanding in terms of speed and endurance. Compare the physiques of the two sporting codes and you will notice which sport makes one fitter.
Compare the Springbok captain with Bafana Captain and you will get my point. If John Smit played soccer he wouldn't be so fat :D
Having said that though...soccer is way too simple compared to rugby. Hence soccer is more popular (anyone can play it, watch it and enjoy it). I doubt there is even more than 20 rules governing the game of scoccer. That alone makes rugby more complex and intellectually more challenging compared to soccer.

Don't forget you also need a bit of acting skills for soccer. Well at least during the WC the soccer players looked more like actors than sport stars.

:D

...and he is currently at White Hart Lane for a second trial. Will probably join them in the January transfer window.

That's the most irritating part about soccer - player acting and bad referee's decisions (corruption). Otherwise it's a beautiful game to watch.

Apparently the Rose brothers didn't pitch up for a GAME never mind practice. Is that because they are lazy - or is it because they are black/colored? Yet they are still considered by our NATIONAL coach to be diamonds in the rough...

Black kids are just miles ahead with football in this country compared to whites.it's a simple fact.as an avid follower of the PSL... there is simply a HUGE difference in skill, speed and overall potential with black ppl.
I've played football since high school and there were many many many moments where i just thought it was unfair how good they are.We honestly have some of the best potential in world football but the facilities are pathetic compared to overseas.but to stick on topic...no ways anyone can tell me whites can even compete in the bigger picture.lmao...

I think this guy has taken one particular example of lazy white players and applied it accross the board (or he was quoted out of context). Over the years there have been very dedicated white players...The 1996 AFCON winning Bafana had the likes of Neil Tovey, Mark Fish, Eric Tinkler, etc. I doubt that those players got there through being lazy.

White kids does not return for training, so he just assumes it is laziness.

Maybe white kids are treated differently to black kids and they don't return because they are told they will never make it in the sport because they are white?

I have to agree with the first part without the white thought. Kids are very lazy. No more sport or PT at school. So if they do not feel like doing sport they do not. So we will miss a whole lot of sport geniuses in the whole colour spectrum. Because nobody made them try at least once.

Same with it the whole ABSA Currie Cup debacle. If all kids were forced to try rugby for the last 15 years I’m sure we would have been able to support our own “all Black team” by now. Anmd not have cared as long as they kick Ausie Butt.

Kids are lazy and sports are not promoted constantly to them during the 12 years at school.

Erm... NO. I was 'forced' to 'try' rugby & do rugby training for PT throughout primary school and I hated every minute of it. Soccer wasn't really an option for us and we were limited to playing it during breaks and after school unsupervised.

It is true... soccer is just too simple and has massive appeal. Why do you think it's the number 1 sport in almost every part of the world?
It's a fact - rugby is an elite sport played mostly at private schools.

Soccer is simple game but it does not mean its simple to play. Have you ever watched a really tight game where just one mistake can cost a team the game? Team play, tactics, positional awareness, movement on and off the ball, use of space, marking, accurate passing, switching play etc. etc. Yeah - all simple stuff

the point is, rugby is just cooler, okay?

race has nothing to do with it, he stuck his foot in his mouth and should talk less often.

LOL.

LOL.

Again you are missing the point.
In any team sport there are
1. Rules - offsides, corner kicks, throw ins, penalty kicks, foul plays, etc
2. Techniques - passing, dribbling, shooting, heading etc
3. Tactics - formations, styles of play, etc

Rules are what I was talking about,..I wasn't comparing soccer tactics to rugby tactics.
Obviously you need superior tactics to outsmart your opponent whether it be a rugby game or soccer game.

So you can't compare tactics but you can compare rules? Or am I missing the point again?

If you were "sporty" you would have found some kind of sport to enjoy and be brilliant at. Most guys that excell in sport has to choose at one point which sport they will follow as a career, if children are forced to try they will soon know if they are "sporty" or not.

You are not an athlete if you were you would have found the PT or sport to your liking even if it were not “the sport” you were meant to play.
