Well my garnia 3 in 1 facewash costs like 70 bucks, i shower twice a day so i use it obviously twice a day and it lasts about 2 months. 35 rand a month for skin care is not exactly excessive is it :p

No, I'm not talking price-wise really. Some people take it a bit far, that's all. The male eye-cream, anti-wrinkle cream, body cream, fat burners, fake-tans etc. It's no longer limited to women - I know of men who go through this process. Fsck, one of my mates takes an hour and a half to get ready to go out. Granted, he is gay and probably has more oestrogen than a gynaecologist's waiting room, but it's still over the top...

A drop of toothpaste overnight seems to work wonders for me. Try it.

Otherwise, get a product from Dermalogica called "Special Clearing Booster" works incredibly fast! bit pricey, but seriously worth it! You'd need to find a Dermalogica stockist nearby.

Strictly judging by your beauty regimen - or sad lack thereof - you are very far from being a metroman.

It is scary how you think there is no need for a daily cleansing regimen. Beauty products are not for people with problems, it is meant for everyone!

You smoke, you drink - what do you think this does to your skin, combined with sun damage, pollution and stress?

So in your opinion, what should a man's "beauty regimen" consist of?

The extent I'll go to with moisturiser is on my heels and elbows, apart form that I just don't see a need for it. My skin's (apart from 5 whiteheads on my face now) is perfectly OK - never had a single issue so I don't see the need to start using creams and oils and lavender baths etc...

Problem isn't now, its the older you get the worse your skin will look. Look after it now, and it will look great later on.

I agree 100% with what kitten said - you may look fine now, but when you get older, things will change for sure!

I imagine you were conditioned to think that men do not do things like these.

A proper skincare regimen for men consists of cleansing, toning and moisturizing (with moisturizer containing sunscreen) - in that order, twice a day. Any skincare brand for men worth it’s salt will have at least those three products. Choose products that suit your skin type (dry, oily or combination skin).

Pick the brand that suits you best price wise.

My shower gel, deodorant and eau de toilette leave me smelling perfectly fine already. To use a skin care product to make a man smell better is excessive IMO. We have products specifically for that already.

Certainly haven't been conditioned to think men shouldn't use these products. By now most people on this forum know that I couldn't really give a schit what they think of me, and the same applies in real life. Couldn't care less if I'm viewed as a metrosexual, I just believe that a lot of the stuff is unnecessary profiteering.

OK, the cleansing and moisturising I can understand for a guy - but the toning!? Why?

Well when the day comes that I start struggling to pick up women and I believe my skin to be the issue, I'll look back on this thread and weep. However judging by my older, male family members who have never touched a moisturiser, I think I'll be OK...

to thighten the pores and clean them out, but if you looked at the site i sent you they only have wash and moisture, the rest is for shaving.....

This is not a clever move at all. Good luck :)

I guess men just have an issue with using something that will show no real benefit over the short term. If it aint broke don't fix it. How does one judge whether a product actually worked over the long term? You can't. And if I reckon the h20 in my shower hydrates my skin perfectly fine. Never had dry skin issues so I doubt it's going to cause an issue with ageing. WRT cleansing, well I shower twice a day and the sponge thingy I use is fairly abrasive, combined with the shower gel I reckon I'm cleansing perfectly OK and getting rid of the dead skin.

So what is the point really? Anything more just seems excessive. I either stop showering and start a cleansing, toning and moisturising regimen. Or I continue showering which already hydrates and cleans perfectly fine by the looks of things...
