just get something that contains hydrogen peroxide, either a 3% solution or 6% if you believe it to be very serious and you have super-bad skin.

i can give you anecdotal, but it is gross so you'll just have to listen or google.

I guess men just have an issue with using something that will show no real benefit over the short term. If it aint broke don't fix it. How does one judge whether a product actually worked over the long term? You can't. And if I reckon the h20 in my shower hydrates my skin perfectly fine. Never had dry skin issues so I doubt it's going to cause an issue with ageing. WRT cleansing, well I shower twice a day and the sponge thingy I use is fairly abrasive, combined with the shower gel I reckon I'm cleansing perfectly OK and getting rid of the dead skin.

So what is the point really? Anything more just seems excessive. I either stop showering and start a cleansing, toning and moisturising regimen. Or I continue showering which already hydrates and cleans perfectly fine by the looks of things...

I'll stop harassing you now, but just one last remark and then I am out of this thread: You clean your skin with a sponge and shower gel ??:eek::eek:

DJ just continue with what you been doin man, i think most of these beauty products are all a bunch of crap, you see adverts but you just know they are fake.

It's a billion dollar business which is growing massively due to all the metro-sexual now thinking they need to moisturize. Showering twice a day and using something on your face that does not dry it out should be fine. Obviously if your in the sun alot then that could become a problem. Women age worse than men so maybe these products are good for them but i still think its a huge scam.

Most of those women in the adverts look nothing like that without make-up and what not, yet it makes people believe that at 60 you have no wrinkles, little do they forget to mention bridget fona has had 10 facelifts and is wearing make up :p

I also struggle with whiteheads around my eyes, mostly because I don't have a "beauty regimen", my solution use to be to try and get to a beautician once every three or so months and they would cut them using a bloodlance. Of late though I just haven't had the time or the extra cash available to do this. Guessing I'm either going to have to try and lance them myself or just take the time and have them removed again.

As to their cause, I've been to a couple of specialists, first concern was that it could be caused by cholesterol, turned out this wasn't the case and I just had an oily skin. They told me which products I should be using and I just never got around to getting them...so yeah, I have whiteheads cause I'm too lazy to take proper care of my face :p

Arzy you will find most studies for pimples show that they come from inside your body.

You can have the best beauty regime ever but if your body is not right you will get pimples, kids with bad acne and what not do not have acne because they have no beauty regime its because their bodies produce the pimples. So while a beauty regime can help prevent pimples it does not mean that you won't ever get any.

27 years and I've never had a single skin issue - no acne, zits, blackheads, whiteheads etc. Not even as a teenager. However over the last 2 weeks or so I've had 4 or 5 whiteheads pop up next to my left eye and need to get rid of these unsightly little annoyances ASAP. Haven't wanted to go digging in my face so bought some Oxy face wash but that has done forkall.

I have until Saturday to get rid of these things so would appreciate any advice from you metrosexuals and the few females on the forum as to how to go about doing this quickly and effectively. Can I sterilize a pin and go digging in my face?

have s3x... what you see on your face is a result of too much testerone in your blood stream... :D;) empty the sack bru:D:D:D

Well if it is a result of too much testosterone then it most certainly has nothing to do with a lack of sex. (BTW, is your "e" button broken? :p )

H aven't read all of the posts - they seem to be fullofit anyway - Body Shop makes a tee tree spot treatment stick thingy... basically looks like an ear bud type thing that you pull out of a bottle; dab a bit on the spot and go to bed; next morning that sucker will be so dry it'll just wash off in the shower, done.

I think there should just be some clarification what we are talking about here, in my case, I don't get pimples and very few blackheads, whiteheads (in my mind) are something totally different.

They are little white bumps that form around the eyes, no redness or swelling, just a white bump. When removing them you basically cut the skin open and scratch them out, what you get is almost like a little white stone. The only time I've ever had puss with them is when they were irritated because they were not removed completely.

With regards to them comming from inside the body, I agree completely, I do however think in the case of whiteheads that they are decreased if you reduce the oilyness of the skin by following a decent beauty regime...just have to test it for myself still...

A better explanation, no advice on how to remove them however:

Whiteheads Removing - How to get rid of Whiteheads?
What are whiteheads?
The whiteheads appear in the form of tiny, pearly white raised spots. They are common in the area just above the cheekbones, where the skin is fine. On oily skins, they may appear as part of a problem skin condition, along with blackheads, pimples and acne.

Causes of Whiteheads
Whiteheads are caused by the accumulation of hardened sebum or oil, in the pores of the skin. Where the skin is fine and delicate, the clogged sebum is not exposed to the air. In other words. the pores are not open. Oxidation does not take place, as in the case of blackheads.

Understanding the difference between blackheads and whiteheads
These are worm like mass of hardened sebum appearing most frequently on the face, forehead and the nose. Blackheads always accompany pimples and often occur during the teens. Whiteheads are cause by the accumulation of sebaceous matter beneath the skin. They occur on different parts of the face, neck, chest and the shoulders. Whiteheads are usually associated with fine textured and often dry skin. Make sure, a sterilized implement, known as blackhead extractor is used for removing blackheads.

Removing Whiteheads - tips on whitehead removal
Follow these remedies in case you suffer from frequent whiteheads:

Wash the skin 3 times a day with medicated soap, if the skin is greasy.
Have a balanced diet. Do not take fried foods, chocolates, pastries, spices and aerated drinks.
Unclogs skin pores by steaming and applying face pack.
Remove stale make-up before going to bed at night.

Have you lost some weight recently? When I lost a few kg's a bunch of white heads where suddenly visible. Just below the skin and impossible to squeeze.

A facial at a spa removed most of them. The lady who did the facial said they are filled with sebum. I went to a dermie two have to of the bigger ones removed. The spa lady wouldn't remove them because she said the big ones leave sacs in the skin that get infected. The dermie removed both in about 20 minutes with a scalpel and mild anesthetic.

Yeah, I've lost weight recently, but not all that much. Most of it is muscle mass though...

For me it was as little as 2kg's that showed it. So it could be that. It's just sacs of fluid but the dermie reckoned if you don't get the sac out with the fluid it will just keep filling up.
