30 April: upgraded a 512M contract to 1G at Vodashop Woodmead, was told that the change would take effect virtually immediately
2/3 May: got SMS saying that the upgrade had been processed
13 May: checked vodacom4me, still showed 512M limit; phoned 1959 to check and was told that the system did indeed show 1G
21 May: checked vodacom4me, still shows 512M limit, and is charging out-of-bundle rate for excess over 512M this month. Phoned 1959, was told that the upgrade will only take effect 31 May, because they can't pro-rate the change.

Does it really take a whole month for an upgrade to be processed? Can they really not pro-rate an upgrade? How does a new subscriber get a pro-rated quota then?

i feel your pain..

tried to upgrade from 512 to 1G.. they neglected to do that! so i paid for 5 months the out of bundle rate on the extra 500mb i used.. mm. (i thought the program keeping track of usage was just wrong and i was using more than 1G)
- later started using vodacom4me site. ;-)

(i'm gona put a cap on my card so i dont go over 512mb!)

This is the reason why I switched from using a Bolt-On Data Bundle to using Ad-Hoc Data Bundles on my 4U [Zero] Contract: basically got very disillusioned with Vodacom's systems surrounding changes to Bolt-On Data Bundles...

The first time I heard the adv. on radio about the price drops I got to my client, sat in my car and made a phone call to 111...

I asked the operator to upgrade my 1GB bundle to 2GB, he said that I don't have to worry, all contracts will be upgraded to the next level (500MB to 1GB, 1GB to 2GB etc) and the charges will stay the same.

I asked him are you sure...
He said he is sure...
I ASKED HIM ARE YOU SURE...
He said he is sure...

I hung up and couldn't wait for my new 2GB bundle...

Next month came and I checked on the first day and  1GB Bundle STILL!

I phoned 111 and the operator told me that I have to upgrade and that it wont happen automatically.. I had to wait another WHOLE &%## month.

Wonder how hard the nuub laughed after I hung up that first time :(

One of the major reasons I dislike getting 3G on contract... too easy to go over your cap limit.

Why can't vodacom implement a hard cap, or throttled softcap?

there is a "kinda" limit you can use.. they call it a "call limit" (dont ask why), which you can specify and amount (min R50), so this means if you do go oob, then it will only charge to a max of R50 (or whatever limit you specify).. I had to phone 155 to get a form, which you then call 155 back with a ref no and set the limit - is a long winded process, but is possible - though i did see them "disclaim" that if for some reason the limit didnt kick in you will still be responsible for the amount <--- this to me doesnt seem fair, if YOUR system, Vodacom doesnt kick in and stop at the requested amount thats YOUR problem, how can you make the customer liable for the system that is not theirs, but is YOURS?? anyhow, just one of this VC type things that some exec probably thought up to cover his own back for "if" or whatever, but doesnt excuse the fact that its YOUR system VC, if you cant get proper systems in place how can that be the clients problem??

And once again I wonder: would it be difficult for vodacom4me to show how much out-of-bundle data one has used? That would be handy when there's doubt about bundle size.

dude, i wish v4me would be able to even just display current data (in bundle) usage properly and consistantly..

And once again I wonder: would it be difficult for vodacom4me to show how much out-of-bundle data one has used? That would be handy when there's doubt about bundle size.

Hi V3g wot bout implementing a sms alert when a specified amount of data has been used, im sure most folks wont mind spending 10bux a month for that? sure as heck would save them on overusing? jiss athought use it dont use it

Data bundle stats for Contract customers.

How and where on Vodacoms system can I see how far I have gone over my data bundle (1Gig) limit. Vodacom4me does not show it, it stops once you reach the threshold. Or is there any other way we get informed if we are over bundle limit.

Have you tried to run a detailed report after you've gone OOB? Should show your usage.

IMO, the best solution is a DIY solution, because there is never any guarantee that the V4me site will be in working order when you need to check.

I use a program called netmeter to keep a record of my data usage:)

Aren't you getting them?

Are you on contract or pre-paid? I know on contract you'll get it before your bundle expire (~80%, I guess) and at 100%

Yes I have run a detailed report & it stops at the 1Gig threshold & does not indicate how far you have gone over. It can display how much you have remaining. It should be simple programming to just indicate a minus value in the remaining column, not so. Yes I also have Netmeter it looks good. But who do you believe Netmeter or Vodacom, when it comes to billing. If they can bill you for out of bundle then they should also show you how much you are out of bundle. Come on Vodacom3G talk to your colleagues.

Oh yes some guy said that an SMS is sent at 80% of bundle, is this true??
