The trick - use a non-US account to connect to Live. I tried the whole time with my US-based account and got nothing. I tried connecting with my UK-based account and immediately got the "Update Available" message. It's downloading as I type here...

Must be rolling it out according to region instead of releasing to everybody at once

I herd that US accounts will not update because in the US the update is being supplied on a memory card.

Do a network test ... it will then prompt you to download a Live update

Wow - my NetMeter reading is quite odd - the download speed works it's way up to about 200kbps then drops to 2kbps and starts working its way up again.

Okie, so for suckers like me with 256MB memory cards, this sucks...... u cant connect to live UNLESS you download the 128MB Avatar update. Kinda sucks, especially because you lose 50% of your storage.

Sigh, gonna have to get a 512MB MU now.

Well, servers must be overloaded or something - my download stopped halfway and keeps "Recalculating download time".
