Hi Guys, I went to watch the rugby 2 weekends ago at one of my friends, friends' houses who had M-Net HD, I was quite impressed and really interested in this.

As the night progressed we got a bit hammered etc :P and I totally forgot to ask him what the costs were etc.

Who here has MNET HD? and what are the drawbacks? and how much from installation.

I have recently moved, so I need all the costs, from installation to decoder and monthly subscription. etc.

I have a full HD TV so no worries :)

hwzit, got it for six months now and it's awsome. There's nothing better than watching live sport in hd. I managed to pick the decoder on Bid or Buy for R2500 and instalation depends on what kind of setup you looking for. max for full install R 1500.

Yep...it really is amazing. Lots of ppl complain about the issues that come with the HP PVR, but IMO...some people just like complaining! LOL! Issues dont bother me that much...so its kewl. ;)

Yip, also has HD, and love it, once oyu have watched something on HD, other channels just pale in comparison, the rugby especially looks amazing on HD

Is the hardware on these HD's any better than the old PVR's I have been through 2 already due to overheating .

Was told as they installed mine, that whatever other devices you have (like home theatre systems, PS3 etc), the HD PVR must be the top most device...so the heat can escape through the vents at the top. So mine sits on top of our home theatre system....have had no issues *touch wood*, and it doesnt seem to get hotter than the 1110 decoder....so I assume its all good ;)

we have normal pvr but im in no rush to upgrade. all that money for like one channel? and i heard you can only watch ONE but record two? thats dumb. no offence to you guys you have it. i just dont see the point so soon. that being

Would have gotten a SD-PVR if I'd been able to ....... but having now viewed stuff in HD, I would have hated to miss out on the experience.

That's the problem for me... one channel that makes the other 80 look like rubbish! :(

Love it too, just wish we could watch cricket and tennis in HD as well

They broadcast a FEW of the IPL matches in HD... was awesome to see.

Got it, and despite the problems I recommend it.

Best solution is to pair an SD-PVR with an HD-PVR - record 3 and watch 3 channels - very useful in my household.

@ZuBS - some tennis and cricket have been shown - they are spectacular in HD!

I have it. It is FAR from perfect but when it works it works like a charm. Your signal quality and signal strength also get jacked up to 100% when you install it so the other channels are clearer than on an SD or PVR decoder (unless you live in an area where you quality and strength are just insane. My old SD decoder gave me about 69% quality and about 79% strength)

More and more sports are finally getting priority broadcast on the channel. The only drawback is they cut out the pre-match and post-match studio chats but who wants to see Naas in HD? :p Some of the Currie Cup and Tri-nations are going to be shown in HD, yay. :)
