Who here eats Fish Paste?

Picked this up at Pick n Pay Epsom Downs today … the rumours about fish paste in Johannesburg are true, my fish-fans (limited to three per customer):

When you open a thing of fishpaste, you have approximately 12 hours to consume the whole bottle before mould moves in

Not a problem if you keep it in the fridge upside down after opening, most everyone knows that...

BUT

Here's a story that might make some of you think twice about continuing this "nice" habit.
This week I opened a brand new bottle, saw what looked like tiny amounts of green mould - scooped it out along with a presumed healthy enough amount of cautious waste, then ate some of what remained on crackers as usual. And the next day...
Boom!
Gypo guts etc. all weekend long.

So, do I blame the manufacturers for being careless or is it the distributors, or the store itself that didn't watch out for temperatures extremes or similar?

Who cares. In this country now, if such a thing happens it ends up on my band list, end of :(🤷‍♂️
