I'm from JHB, and relied on a map book to get around. In CPT, you just have to look at the mountain to determine where you are. I must say that a GPS has saved me from being late for a few meetings a number of times.

PS - I am about to enter the dirty 30s soon - almost a senior citizen
but i have my eye on you non the less ha ha ha
my daughter, who was with us, wants a GPS when she goes back home and mom says she works fine with the old book and her reasoning is that with all these gadgets in a car it will take you half an hour just getting out of your vehicle because you have to detach all these gadgets at least with a map book you can leave it on the seat.

After getting horribly lost in the bush a couple of times, I now have a Map book PLUS a Garmin...much safer..
Probably amusing to some of you.......Being a non SA native i went for a drive out of CPT.....on trying to return i could see i was going the right way as i could see the mountain,... but the only darn signs for turning off were to some place called Kaapstad & i wanted to go to Capetown not Kaapstad...worked that one out the hard way

Strange thing is after all the new roadworks, they're still putting up Kaapstad signs!
what about those markings in the road that says SLEGS ONLY, what on earth is a SLEG?

I agree Kaapstad is beyond the Boerewors Curtain, whilst Cape Town lies on the Peninsula
