I just got home from playing a quick 9 holes after work.

Today was my 3 round in about 18 years since I last played.

My short play is excellent but my driving and long irons are ***.

I should first get to a driving range on a regular basis before decide to play again.

But today was still thoroughly enjoyable.

Congratulations. Obviously teachers aren't that poor. Golf is a rich man's game.

I'm using my father's set of clubs. I haven't paid for membership. I just paid the unaffiliated course fee of R150.

I used to play golf. Got good (read "not atrociously awful") at one stage, but havent played for about 2 years. Keen to start up again.

Should we get a myBB golf team going?

I've played a few mashee rounds over the years. Never had time for it due to work and other sporting commitments. Fortnight ago I bought myself and my son each a set of clubs so that we can start playing (now that I'm retired).

Yeah, I play. Not enough though. Last round was in April. Maybe I'll get a chance again in the silly season.

So where you played today?

If I told you, you'd know at which school I work and a few people might know how to figure out who I am in real life.

Not to worry. We all think we thrive on anonymity.

I sorted of do. But that all ends when I upload a pic of myself and a few others.

Anyhow. Here's hoping your golf picks up.

just started.
I have no problem hitting irons, i suck at drivers. I tee off with a 3 iron straight off the deck at the moment.

Nice game, but it takes too long and the drinking culture is a problem

I love golf. Play too little though. But I have had a hole in one in 2005 at Wingate C C.
Used to be a 2 handicap but slipped down to a 10 over the years.
It's a great game.

Best advice i got which worked the best was from an interview with Tiger Woods. Swing slower on the clubs you struggling with about 70% of full swing speed. When you start hitting straighter and more consistantly you can speed it up again.

He said the biggest problem with amateur golfers is they swing to hard.

It really works!

My father used to play quite a lot and I would go with him, just to watch.

I sadly, never got into it. I'm more into adventure sports like hiking, rowing, mountain biking and trail running.

I played 2 full rounds and loved it, even though I suck. Just haven't gotten into golf myself but would love it.
