Microsoft brings key feature back for Windows 10

The most important one

Microsoft has done a significant u-turn and bought back one of the most popular Windows features for Windows 10.

For reasons only known to Steve Ballmer, Redmond decided to kill off games like Solitaire, Minesweeper, and Hearts from Windows 8. For many users this was a feature which they could not live without, and forced them to stick to Windows 7.

Overhauled and modern versions were available in the Windows Store, but PC user did not bother to look there because that was part of the tablet function of Windows 8 which serious users never looked at.

According to the Verge Microsoft is now bringing back Solitaire as a built-in game on Windows 10. It will be the modern version from Windows 8, but you no longer have to search around the Windows Store to find it and play.

Only Solitaire is back as a built-in app so far, and that may even change by the time Windows 10 ships in the summer.Who knows, perhaps they will also put the flight sim back into Excel.

One would think that it would be important features like the start menu that would make or break a product. Not leisure components that can be downloaded.

Actually, I'm not surprised at this. Those games have TONS of users with experience playing these on older Windows systems and the only way that some people that I know, including relatives, get used to Windows 7/8/8.1 is through being able to find their games like Minesweeper and Solitaire. I logged hundreds of hours into Solitaire in my youth.

So many of the older folk I know whiled away spare hours on Solitaire. It will be great to see it back in the line up.

Just noticed that these games were turned off on my set up. Switched it back on and the missus will be happy now.

They could bring back the pinball app. Used to drive the bookkeeper berserk with the sound effects on that one :D
