Here it comes:

Yet they still managed to post a huge profit. Check the financials.Agh nevermind, I know you are time-constrained, so I'll point it out to you:
Gooi mustard-sous: http://mybroadband.co.za/news/business/20294-vodacom-increases-profits-in-financial-year-2011.html
Now I'll admit that I'm no financial guru, in fact I hated high-school accounting and swore never to touch it at university level, but the figures are plain to see, released by Vodacom themselves:
28% increase in profits, stemming from only a 6.4% increase in revenue, less (the interconnect odd billion lost + other expenses + billions more in capex)
Do you see my point? Or should I have paid more attention in accounting (seriously, I'm not sure I got this right. Profit = Income (revenue) - Expenses)?
No, your accounting seems fine. (Though there seems to be discrepancies in how revenue, GP and NP are reported, in any case according to the ICASA reports myBB published recently). But it was not the point you originally made and I then responded to. More below.
First, Zoltan's quote; Same one I remember but I cannot, for the life of me, remember the 10-cent floor bit. And I sat next to him when he said it, maybe a psychological block.
On interconnect; the point made, which I refuted, was that dropping interconnect would create a saving that then should be passed on to the consumer. As explained it only worked for those for are net payers of interconnect. Maybe ask them why they've not passed the savings on.
I never said, or denied, Vodacom did not make a substantial profit. The point was not in our discussion.
