WHS2011 Remote desktop over the net - please help

Hi

I can access my WHS2011 via RDP on my LAN, but not over the internet.

I have set up RDP in my router to point to the static ip of my server (port 3389)

When I enter my Ip address into my browser (received from my ISP) I get to the WHS2011 logon screen.

I get an error message that the username and/or password is incorrect. I am not using the Administrator account but another one setup with admin rights.



ANy ideas?

It's a very bad idea allowing RDP from the Internet.

Would you recommend VPN instead. Any ideas how to set this up on WHS2011?

Rather set up a VPN or use a service like Logmein or Teamviewer instead.

I have set up a VPN and it connects, now what. How I actually access my server at home.

Use the remote desktop viewer and connect to the local ip like you would on your home network.

Weird thing - I cant make a VPN connection anymore.

I can however connect to my router via the web
I can RDP into my server for connectivity test purposes.
My username and password is correct.
