Well 1st of all, i endorse a better life for all, if it means moving to Aus then do so, I"ll send you post cards of vuvuzellas while the taxi lords are stricking...The fact here is that she, lol, its a him dude, is complaining about nonsense and in the same breath comparing Africa to 1st world countries...never has (s)he mentioned monetary reasons or reasons of employement...if so, I say go overseas!

I'm sort of neutral on ZA, though i do see myself out of it in the next 3 yrs max. But i'de not impose my reasons for it on others. Compared to a lot of other countries we get away with little in terms of natural and political disasters and have a high-standard of living here. so its really personal choice rather than "mass exodus required"

BTW, once it gets too dangerous for the whites it may well be out of control in the townships.

The fact is although I'm not at all patriotic, I have a fairly well paying job, which I am not likely to easily find in Scandinavia. Then there's the language thing as well, they hardly speak any English. Simple things like that which totally hampers emigrating.

im so glad my bride to be is European, this means with the new anti-south african mentality of the UK it will be much easier to get a job there.

I believe you are failing again when you sy Mila is complaining about nonsense. Saying something like I'd rather move to the UK than live in this dump is hardly a comparison.

Very true, i agree completely. But I like to think ACDC were right with their song "Money talks" so in the end any decisions that will mean less in the pockets of the politicians (like companies pulling out and investors running) wont be allowed to fly.

But then again i could be wrong, hence my 3-yr plan to be out :)

If SA is still by far your best bet in terms of finances and language then tell me why on earth would you want to leave unless your situation deteriorates further? In that case you would not mind moving to a lower paying job and having to learn a new language.

In my experience...
It depends on your skill level. In my case I reckon I get paid a whole lot more in SA than potentially elsewhere. I'd attribute this to the overall shortage of real, demonstrable skills - there are plenty people running around with degrees and "years" of experience but who really can't do the job they profess to be able to do. Not bragging, but I'm pretty good at what I do and many of my colleagues with the same level of skill have ducked overseas leaving little competition. This means I don't really have to negotiate very hard to get a more than fair rate for the work I do (thanks AA/BBBEEE - I must be one of the few whitey's over 35 who actually dig it and hope it doesn't change too soon :) )

So here's the thing for me (and I guess for many in the same kind of position). Until an issue directly influences my lifestyle, there's really no reason to move. My potential earnings in SA are way higher than elsewhere and this allows me to live a lifestyle I probably wouldn't be able to maintain anywhere outside of Africa.

I do not however envy the lot of SA's youngsters and if I were in their position, would have been off like a jewish foreskin

Aaaah I so agree with you! My earnings now as a 24 y.o can never be matched elsewhere...And as opposed to your liking of BBBEEE...I too like it, but for a different reason, as my race with my education and my work experience...BBBEEE is my dude! Stay in SA!!!

I like that kind of honesty.
However the people in your age group with solid skills and qualifications are sometimes the ones that are very quick to jump ship citing AA/BEE as the reason. That's the little bit that does not make any sense.
