Why are there no laptops with SSDs?

Quick query, why does every store only sell laptops with HDD when SSD is the new tech?

I'm patiently waiting for a laptop with an SSD already built in but sadly, can't find anything locally yet. Anyone?

I don't tinker with the insides of a laptop and upgrade like every 5 years. It's time for an upgrade but I'm looking for a laptop with SSD instead of HDD. SSD is far better than an HDD and faster.

I'm sure where you're buying from can do the upgrade.

Wootware comes to mind.
 
Buy laptop, buy SSD of choice, buy me 3 single malt whiskys at a restaurant close to me and I clone your HDD to SSD in an hour or so while you wait. :D Or save yourself 3 whiskys and do it yourself. It it is very easy.
 
There are plenty of SSD laptops.. they're just more expensive. If that's a problem I would advise getting one with an hhd and replacing it with an SSD yourself.
 
My Lenovo X300 back in 2008 came with an SSD. Admittedly was the first one back then ... was expensive but worth it.

This, if you can't find one (you should be able to).
Also remove the redundant optical media (bluray/cdrom etc) and you've got space for another SSD too.
 
The biggest tragedy is that there are still new laptops with 1024x768 displays

There are but the bad rand means that only the cheap entry ones are sold in the normal shops. The top of the range ultrabooks would sell between R30 and R50k

PS. Traditional SSDs are outdated. NVMe SSD are current.

I've personally decided to not buy a replace for my current laptop until I can get a suitable one with NVMe base storage + USB Type-C charging / Thunderbolt 3 port... Until then my current laptop while just have to do...

Agree. A huge plus of it is you can have both a traditional 2.5" drive and NVMe stick in your laptop as its the same size of a RAM memory stick No more having to lug around externals and keep on moving downloaded data to externals. This is my current setup and so convenient. Saves me so much time.
 
i heard that it might be possible to remove the dvd drive and use the space for an ssd. still trying to find a tray that fits my laptop
