I know having to be a windows user sucks even more than that - I was just rubbing a smidgen of salt in your wounds. :p
 
Dude it sounds like you have other priorities before even getting to your snazzy laptop hassles... maybe you need to focus on upgrading your life in general (new job with better pay and better prospects maybe?) and the rest will come. Just think it through: even if someone gave a Cray supercomputer right now you'd take it home and *blip* no internet!
Don't let lust for one material object cloud your opinion of yourself and your life completely - there are other important things and it sounds like you have some of those things already, I wonder how many people on this forum don't even have a car to throw petrol into and be broke after with?

24 is early days you have loads of time to get many Macbooks - and just for interests sake: there is rumour of Apple bringing out a new Macbook at an 'aggressive' price point next month -maybe that's gonna be your new laptop by next year!
