Just a question, because many threads have been closed recently.

What is the harm of having people voicing their opinions about high data prices for the network provider they use, that they are locked into a 24 month contract with? Yes, to a certain extent you can vote with your wallet but last time I checked you cannot have a voice plan with one of these super duper 10GB bundle things. And isn't it odd that MTN have not changed their data bundle prices in 6 years???

And mods, if there are so many of these ranting threads about data bundle prices, don't the members of this forum deserve to rant on what they like? Sure, some people might find the threads irritating, pointless, etc. But then is it aim of MyBB mods to seek out ALL irritating and pointless threads and close them? What about the completely pointless Thread Killer rubbish that people use to get billions of posts so that they can look cool?

Rant finished, back to work :)

Edit: Not many threads, rather two threads.

If its true then my guess is that ISP's are coming down hard on myBB because its bad for business.
Screw the ISP's the public want transparency on how they're being shafted.

Just a question, what threads are you talking about specifically?

It works like this.

you have those in power, namely MyBB
You have a bunch of people below those, namely us.
and then you have the corporates.

The corporates pay the ones in power, to censor us, because exposing them is bad for business.

This is basically the same thing that happens in government.

Time for a REVOLUTION!!!11!!1, eh Keeper? :p

Locked threads don't disappear...

Well I know of some people on MyBB who have gotten infractions for voicing their opinions against vodacom :erm:

but yeah, i guess "this just doesn't happen"...."its all a conspiracy"...."Censoring? Ha! Never happens!"

Ja, well if their opinions included profanity, etc. ... /shrugs.

I also wanted to create a thread like this, and point out that the entire reason MyBB even exists is because rpm and other founding members (if they exist) were extremely agitated with the costs and performance of ADSL and Telkom way back when. I now find it quite funny that threads were we complain about high mobile data prices and crappy performance thereof get locked. What gives?

There's a flaw in your logic. Mods are unpaid, there is no incentive for us to kowtow before corporate entities, or any advertisers for that matter. :)

so why do the threads get locked then?

There's a multitude of reasons why threads get closed (trolling, flaming, derailed, duplicates, etc) - corporate influence isn't one of them.

There was another thread which was diced and sliced in very peculiar circumstances. It was almost as if the moderator was personally slighted.

Maybe it isn't a good idea to raise these things in public? I'm not complaining (don't care), just that it raised my eyebrows more than a little.
