Why do we let MWEB get away with it...

its seems like its getting worse by the hour. my last download was going at 2.1kbps..
19 hours to finish? i'd rather just forget about the internet for 19 hours

The reason we keep them running 24/7 is because we get speeds of 10kb/s.
One download of 4 gigs is enough entertainment to keep me busy for 3 days.

10kb/s * 3600 (seconds per hour) * 12 (hours of shaped) / 1024 (KB per MB) = 421MB per Day
50kb/s * 3600 (seconds per hour) * 12 (hours of unshaped) / 1024 (KB per MB) = 2105MB per Day

Total P2P Data Allocated per day (Average) = 2526MB
Total P2P Data Allocated per month (Average) = 2526MB * 30 = 75780MB/1024 = 74GB

Price per p2p gig per month (4mb) = R539/74GB = R7.28c Per gig of p2p

Axxess is starting to seem like a more viable option.

"The lowest per GB price was however not achieved on Axxess’ 384Kbps Uncapped Express+ accounts, but rather on their standard 4 Mbps Uncapped ADSL accounts retailing for R496 per month.

The top downloader on these uncapped 4 Mbps accounts consumed 776 GB per month, equating to 64c per GB. The top 10 users on these accounts consumed between 478 GB and 776 GB per month."

Although I agree with your logic, the point is not every one wants to download 1TB a month, yet there are people that do and expect to pay the same amount as those that dont? Howe does a business manage this? They need to make money and keep investors happy as well as consumers.

Now with uncapped people need a mind shift more than anything. This competition of my epenis is bigger than your cause I downloaded 1TB to your 200GB is not what uncapped is about.
It is about giving users the peace of mind not having to worry about their usage patterns, but giving them the freedom to use the internet as a resource and tool for information and entertainment. That said you get what you pay for. If you want the full experience you pay the full price of unshaped as it does cost a business more (less users per pipe = less return) keeping the shareholders happy..

The problem is that it is again physically limited, so people's usage patterns affect other users, and hence the FUPs (although some are unfair!) that try keep the majority of the customer base happy..

If you not happy with the product as it is does not do what is advertised talk to ASA hellopeter etc.
But if it was not designed to keep your needs fulfilled but the majority of users, then search for a product that does fulfill your needs. If you can't find one, start your own company then and show others how it should be done.. Or maybe reassess your needs?

DISCLAIMER
I do not work for or support MWeb, beside the fact that I am merely a customer who is also not happy with their current shaping, but I'm trying to provide a broader picture of the problem which is not only experience by them. I feel both sides of an argument should be considered by both parties. Although you are a customer and them a business why should they lose money because of you, and why should you suffer because of them?
Both parties have a choice to cancel and walk away, and if either aren't satisfied you should do just that.

I personally am perfectly happy with Mweb...

My HTTP to the sites I care about are MORE than acceptable, my speeds to random other sites are also more than decent.... my p2p traffic could be faster, but its not what this product was meant for so i just let them tick along, I now no longer care when a download will finish simply because I know it eventually will.

I'm sorry but 15kb/s is just unreasonable. It's past shaping time and I'm getting 15k. This is BS, I really don't care about their shapes.
If they're worried about their shares then maybe they should consider making a better service because I know a lot of people are tearing up their contracts.

I'm thinking of going with a capped solution now. See axxess has int data less than R10 per gig.
Would be nice to finally see 400kB/s.

You do understand the concept of shaping don't you?... p2p has a pool, and you are currently getting your share.. whether its 100kb/s or 15kb/s.. its your share.

Now I understand their new add on TV, about the guy sitting in the basement when the police comes to check if he is still alive.....

He was waiting for a 10MB download to finish!! :D :D :D

Sigh - yeah, reading all these posts and I'm in exactly in the same boat....man, if I break 2Kbs download during the day it's a surprise - and I was having such a good experience with them in the past....oh well! I'm also gonna wait till the end of this month and then cancel - this is ridiculous, rather pay a bit extra and get some decent service!! Why do they even bother??? Come on guys, I hate to be spiteful but I'm also gonna try take as many peeps with me, they shouldn't sell something that doesn't even slightly live up to it's name...."uncapped!!!"
