The purpose of an E-Mail and Internet Policy is to ensure that e-mail and the Internet are used properly within the organization. It aims to ensure that employees have legitimate access to the systems, understand the standards of behavior expected of them and in turn are protected from harassment or unlawful infringement of their privacy.

Why do you need an E-Mail and Internet Policy

Ok, how many times have you walked in on upper management, having jokes or other non work related things on their email systems, while you struggle to send work related attachments to others in your company. Policies need to apply to all, but that is never the case, as in every human enviroment, Animal Farm rules apply, some are more equal than others.

All corporates need a email and internet usage policy. You have something to use when you want to fire someone for abusing the internet - porn etc etc.

Without a policy it would be impossible to dismiss them.

haha... 90% of e-mail is forwarded crap.

Snopes and other hoax sites help... but then there are the stupid videos and pics that everybody has already seen. :(

Would be better if the control policy could be centralised on the internet and businesses can subscribe to the central control.
