Why does blizzard discriminate against s.a?

Hey


I was busy trying to access the scroll of resurection page on the webpage to resurect a freind of mines account and i got hit by the following error "your account is not allowed access to the page because of its country".......WTF.

I made a thread about it on official wow forum that got response from a few trolls and a few ppl that seem to know wat they talking about but the topic got locked without being given an explanation as to why blizz doesnt give us the same service as other countries.

If there is anyone that knows anything about this situation and the laws concerning online gaming and prizes etc.

I live in south africa and have been paying my subscription for nearly 3 years, now i ask you this if my money is good enough then why the F is my country a problem?, blizzard has a cheek to come into my country and sell me the game and accept my payments every month but when it comes to giving a service that im paying for like everyone else i get denied.

WTF.


The topic got locked without explanation or a solid answer and i would like a resolution plz,

Hell yea!, already cancelled subscription and put char up for $400.

What pisses me off the most is they dont give an answer, instead they lock the topic and tell me to search for it, i think blizz needs to ask themselves wtf they pay the support guys salaries when they only answer questions once.
 
Well, to be fair, the tone of your message wasn't very friendly. Just because they're customer support doesn't mean they have to tolerate abuse from customers. Secondly, Blizzard has never "come into" South Africa. Our copies are all imported by third parties. Officially we are simply not a supported country. So that probably didn't make much of an impact on them. They accept your money because you offered it. Since you are free to revoke that offer at any time, they are free to deny access to whichever services they wish.

The usual reason that they block this kind of thing from other countries is if it can be involved in a competition. This doesn't really seem applicable here, but it's the only reason I know of.
 
Well i posted this here to find someone that might know a thing or two about how these things work, one of my other online pastimes is online gambling, i play poker on about 3 overseas sites and never had any problems with them paying me my winnings or anything like that, i just dont see how they can blame our country's laws when they dealing with virtual items and subscriptions, it just does not make sense.

Tax problems, usually. They need to cover themselves, and generally the easiest way (when they don't know the tax laws of every possible participating country) is to limit it to the US.

You cannot register, the forum account is registered/linked to an active World of Warcraft subscription and valid license key.
 
This is odd, I used a Ressurection Scroll to re-invite a friend to WoW a few months ago, both of us SAffers, with SA credit cards etc.
Obviously things have changed since then, but it's really odd they've not given you an answer.
 
No luck yet unfortunately. Sadly it has become (EU in specific) a policy of Blizzard to ignore anything they do not want to speak about. Its rather pathetic really, but its true.

I don't play this game and don't know what you're talking about (lol) but if it's a once-off thing why not use a proxy to do it?
