Why does mybb allow content service ads?

I see on mybroadband lately banner ads from content providers for their junk - available anyway for free through a few keystrokes in Google. I don't think these ads (read detestable trickery) is worthy of placement on a site such as Mybb. PLEASE REMOVE!!

100%. I'm all for relevant service ads, but that's just tacky for myBB.
 
Even found the "fake winners" banner here on mybb!!

I have already submitted a WASPA complaint on this but it takes several months to get any action from WASPA :mad:

Some of the links inside the thread I link to above won't work anymore. The con-artists behind this just close the URLs I complain about just to make the same junk resurface under another banner and URL.

How can MyBB fund itself otherwise? Do you have an alternative solution?

Yes ads are needed but this junk leaves a sour taste in my mouth. Mybb has a good reputation and some readers may click those ads thinking they are "reputable". Pretty soon we will see complaints of readers who lost hundreds of Rands because they clicked these banners and didn't realise they were subscribing to a content service.
 
Apply for the position of advertising manager for MyBB, then you will be able to exert some influence on what is acceptable or not. Hopefully, MyBB users would be discerning enough to recognise a content service ad before they committed themselves to regular payments.

IMO, content service ads are a slightly more refined version of the email scams that are received daily, at least these are immediately recognisable for what they are
 
I have no idea how much control MyBB has over these ads, but they're despicable anyway. It sucks that we have to see them when trawling the web, much less that they appear here.

These are not our ads, which is of concern to us. Can you confirm that your browser/computer is not possibly infected with some malware which is serving these ads?

Is anyone else seeing these ads?

That is one of our campaigns. We also checked on our side and can not replicate the problem which Ajax described.

I had to "allow it temporarily" since my firewall automatically blocks the specific domain (they carry nasty popups from other sites).
Likewise... I only got a batch of about 7 or 8 banners, and nothing like OP described.
 
I have never seen those Ads before. Sure your PC isn't infected?

They are served by Google based on his past history as I'm sure you know, just ask for the link and block in adsense settings? Those scum adverts serve no purpose!
 
Very weird. Since yesterday afternoon I have not seen those banners anymore on mybb. Same computer, same browser, same internet connection.
