why can't they bump the 512 guys to 1024? i mean they changed 192 to 384 and the 1024 to 4meg what about 512

At the moment the 4meg is still a trial - in fact many of the people who originally signed up for 1024 are still only getting that speed.

Who knows what they'll do when the trial is over.

We'll see soon whats gonna happen, feb they stopping the trial. What i heard is that they gonna bump the 1024 service to 4mbps at the same cost but if you cant sync they gonne drop the speed till you sync. There is an post somewhere here about this.

Also at the moment the 512 dsl is the most expensive off the packages if you look at the speed/price. So Telkom likes it.:D

Ja, it way cheaper than 1024 but really expensive for that speed. So most people want speed but dont wanna pay the price for 1024 so they go for 512

If they adjust prices in the near future, we'll probably see a shift to 512, 1024, and 4096 with little or no movement in price :(

Hmm... Why don't they halve the price of 384, 512 and 1024 instead of doubling the speed?

Because in practical terms it doesn't really cost them much more to provide a higher speed, they can however claim to have "reduced prices" because the 512 will for instance now be at 384 prices.

I thinks its kinda useless, why not scrape the 384 and 512 and offer 1mbps, 2mbps, 3mbps and 4mbps.

I use routesentry to manage my local and int traffic, and I don't download stuff 24/7. It's just that when I do download something I enjoy the speed of the 4096 line.

Its definitely an improvement, but we're still getting ripped off.

The problem isn't the access department of Telkom. The problem is SAIX and the international cable access. These are the guys bleeding us dry. I pay more for my ISP (3GB Telkom Internet) than I do for my access.
That is just wrong.
