Why Eskom needs to increase electricity prices

Eskom has explained that it needs to increase electricity prices to meet the cost of producing the power it provides to South Africans.

Responding to queries from MyBroadband, Eskom said the recurrent equity injections from the government required to keep the power utility running were due to an electricity pricing issue.

We need money because (insert list of excuses here)
We are battling because corruption, mismanagement (insert covid19, the new go to excuse)

Ah, I see our friend the excuse-maker is back at Escum!
What a load of bullshyte, the only reason Escum needs to increase tariffs is to fund more looting! Where is the money that is supposed to have been recovered from the fraud perpetrators?
Just in case Escum didn't know, the majority of consumers ARE tax payers and ARE funding your mismanagement, fraud and corruption. By the way, where am I as the consumer being subsidised for my electricity usage? Perhaps if you cut your bloated, useless and KFC eating staff, you would be able to produce electricity at a reasonable price point.

You have to increase the price of electricity when the cost of your employees doubles every 10 years. The fact they are around 60% bloated too doesn't help.
And earning inflated salaries. SOEs employees are the highest paid in SA. As pigs go, undoubtedly the fattest of the fat.

They should be decreasing prices to help businesses now! How dare they ask for increases now when people are taking Salary cuts and businesses is going under. WTF is wrong with ESKOM what they need to do is get their act together and disconnect illegal connections and get municipalities to payback what is owed to them. But hey it easier to F up the economy and demand money from honest hard working people?

This is a very easy question to answer........

- The ANC cadres and the Guptas, stole all the money and now the people of South Africa have to pay it back.
- Then there is the fantastic ANC business model. "Eskom is asking everyone to reduce electricity consumption but Eskom is increasing tariffs because of loss of revenue."
- The over-bloated staff count at Eskom
- Managers and executives which receive bonuses for UNDER performing.

Maybe they should jack up the below cost rates that they sell at to mining and industrial... then hike the rates of cross border sales before claiming that they're selling below cost to consumers - it's only below cost because they overpay for coal and under-recover from the heavy users.

Well, I would gladly pay Eskom tariffs of R1.20 per kWh or less. Problem is I have a greedy bloated municipality in the middle with 30% freeloaders and ANC graft to boot.

I have prepaid directly with eskom, that's rate I pay. Not far off the R1.20.

I'd like to see MyBB report on how much fat the municipalities are adding on top, they're a big part of the problem but don't seem to add any value
