Why ever did i chose winblows 10

My homegroup is still from a Windows 7 machine that's been moved to the great garbage heap about 4 years ago, yet Windows 7+10 is still kind enough to allow all the devices to connect to it.
 
I agree with OP. Using Windows 10 is like having a cheese grater stuck between your buns.

You think that's bad? Someone I know put there Windows 10 laptop in their car boot and someone then drove into the back of the car, just proves what poor defence Windows 10 offers.

I just connected my two Windows 10 PC's via Ethernet directly too each other. Under Network I can see both PC's. When I select PC 2, it ask's me for the Username / Password and then I can access all the files that are shared. Copy to and from works fine. Did the same with the other PC. Can access PC 1, Enter username and password, can access all the files.

I didn't use Homegroup. Just sellect Network.

Am I missing something again?

Yeah RedViking, I'm gonna say "what is a cross-over cable" for R2500.

I have had a legit problem with Win 10 though, it never used to shut down the actual PC but just hang on the black screen, but they fixed that so now I can't complain. I think I'll go jam my RAM into a PCI slot or something then blame Windows...

The first release of Windows 10 gave me headaches. It's getting better. There are some things that irritates me, but oh well... Also using Windows 10 Pro is a must so I can use Group Policy to control updates.
 
I see someone is very good at making friends...

Betting the problem is that one or both machines are set to Public instead of Private.

Granted that change could have been easier to make but everyone should still understand it very simply.

When i finally got the dumb homegroup option to work, only to find that it goes into a never ending connection spree once entering the stupid password, Never actually connecting the pc's, you have no idea ho much time i wasted on this stupid piece of useless code they dare to call an operating system

I blame microsoft for the issues that need blaming :) winblows ten is a big load of horse cr@p, and the interface a joke, yet still they actually ask money for it. Can you believe that !!!!!??????

I am going to give the very short story, get this, you cannot simply do a peer to peer connection nor can you simply do a lan connection, and YES i went through countless of pages of research and used many troubleshooting methods myself to NO avail. So many people having endless problems it makes one sick just to read half of it.

For the love of life is there any alternative software i can use inside winblows 10 to simply connect 2 pcs for gaming ? It's all i ask. it is really simply a connection which microsft did not even pass primary school on how to actually do it so that it actually works.

i'm stuck with doing the adhoc wireless connection which sucks because it lags and whoever invented those dumb thumb wireles usb network adapters needs a slap, it's all they sell at the local pc store i went to 4 !
