Why FNB SIM-locks its ConeXis smartphones

Following the recent launch of its new ConeXis X2 and ConeXis A2 smartphones, many potential customers have asked why the bank has SIM-locked the devices.

that's what I never understood about FNB offer though.
I mean they give you a phone, but locked to their account,

im sure its possible to unlock though, or load a ROM that not a FNB one....

You can unlock it, about 20 dollars from a website I checked. Might be able find a better deal if you continue looking.

I dont actually see how locking it makes a difference to them. You have to use their network to get discounts anyway.

It's a grey area thanks to legislation that isn't properly worded and some final drafts mysteriously changing again.

Icasa must investigate why their phones are network locked as its against the law to lock a phone
