Ring a bell?

Hype is only a problem when the games being hyped-up fail to live up to expectations. The problem lies with the fact that few titles today ever live up to the amount of hype they receive.

This is very true.
I remember HellGate: London.
It was so hyped up that they ended up releasing an inferior product too early.
I bought into that hype and spent R100's of rands for a bugged to death game.

the flip side also rings true, alot of decent (good) games are released but not that much hype around it.
i think heavenly sword is a good example, not much hype around the game but an excellent game non the less

Actually thought Call of Juarez was a good game too - yet few had heard of it!

Seriously ! HYPE IS A BUNCH OF BULL****! why would u buy a game cause a bunch of random people say its some magical kingdom...if u do then the blame for not liking it is on you

You underestimate the power of the written word! Why do ad's exist? Look at M$ project NATAL? ;)

I think the biggest problem is people fall for impressive non ingame renders (such is the case in Hellgate: London) I watched a promo for Just Cause 2 and they focussed so much on the graphics one has to wonder how bad the actual gameplay is for them to harp on about the graphics through the whole thing.

See what I did there?

Sure, if we relate facts to what SONY presented as compared to what Microsoft presented and then look at facts of the electronics' accuracy, differences and possible applications then we can debate. We will soon see the results and I can promises you some will be vindicated in what they said at the time!

I havent played much games since I upgraded.....man..paid R7000 for a 3DCard and then I actually stopped playing games - weird

but, in my defence....not too many "have to play" pc games came out in 2009. except HoN.

Im worried about Duke Nukem.
The game has been delayed for like 15 years and odd are not in its favour.
If they stuff that game up may God have mercy....

How likely is it that that game will ever get released? Not too long ago the entire development team was shut down.
