just to be clear i am not voting, they're all pretty useless whichever ever way this thing swings.

so heres my reason:

all i've from the DA is blah blah blah DONT VOTE ANC blah blah STOP ZUMA blah...

SOMEWHERE OVER THE RAINBOW OOOH

OOOH OH OH OOOH

what the hell?? have they even given reason to vote for them except, "Dont vote for that guy"

Yea i find their campaign is massively flawed. Instead of informing the public about what they are willing to do for South Africa, they've made it all about Zuma. It's seriously irritating.

I think that song is great though...it gives hope, somehow.....

think of it like this, how many people know about the DA's policies vs. the people who know about Zuma? :)

fear tactics resorting to emotional reasoning :)

They're the opposition, they oppose the ruling party (the trick is in the wording).

But if you're too lazy to read their policies and would rather just complain, I can't help you.

EDIT: what does the ANC offer besides "Together we can do more"???

+1 on their terrible campaign. I haven't ever heard about how they are gonna make our country better, it's all about how ANC is so bad.

They just trying to rope in the gullible middle aged white people and their housewives.

im not complaining, like i said, they all suck

but, listening and reading other parties ads/statments and comparing it to the DAs, they give actual reasons to why we should vote for them.

this might have been the DAs best chance at beating the ANC and now its gunna blow up in their face.

....dont know if botox is vulnerable to explosions :p

Um I have heard about the good policies they have to offer . :)

Even saw an ad about it today

Opposing the ruling party is what everyone is doing. Hence they are all opposition. However, i don't hear the other parties slandering Zuma 24/7. They are more about what THEY can do for ME.

I've read their manifesto and I think they still have a lot of work ahead of them to fine tune their policies.

all that BS about fixing this and creating more jobs and what not, yes its BS but its better than "HEY! dont vote for the whiney old lady!"

You're confusing the campaign and the platform. The DA stands for a lot more than just opposing Zuma. If you're really interested in politics, why not check out their website and read their policies for yourself.

Well, Pumpkin king, by not voting at all, you are actually doing the ANC a big favour. Did you know that Zanu-pf won the 2000 election by a slim 1%? They won by that margin and they realised that they won't win the next elections, so what did they do? They gave farms to people, farms which were taken illegally from their owners and farms which were productive, all in the name of being the ruling party. Now just think for a minute, what if all MDC supporters voted for MDC, would Zim be in the state that it is in right now? I don't think so. So what you must realise is that all ANC supporters will vote for the ANC, while people who don't support the ANC and people who are fed up with the ANC will not vote at all, reason varying from "the ANC will win anyway, so why should I bother voting?" and "there is no other party to vote for", those statements and mentality will give the ANC more power (two-thirds majority). What I think should happen in the upcoming elections is for the ANC to not win by a two-thirds majority, because if they do, they WILL change the constitution.

So why do they not voice this more? Instead of leaving it on a website where majority of voters will never go and have a look.

You need more reasons?

Oh my word, a sensible PK thread!!:D

That is true, though. They never say what they plan to do; they just keep stating that they're the opposition and we should vote for them on that basis.

I will go through to look at their policies, and all the other parties' policies. Let's be honest and say that the vast majority won't, though. If I was basing it on just their ads, I would not vote DA. Their ads tell me nothing about what they plan to do for me.

Honestly, their ads made me more inclined not to vote for them. I get the impression of noisemakers with no substance.

That's the point i was trying to make. You said it better!

i didnt say i wasnt voting because i was sick of the ANC. i just dont see a natural leader amongst the parties. if anything zuma would be consisdered a leader but he has his own problems
