Why I'm going to vote DA

So if SA had those very valuable minerals, Zuma's image shouldn't matter?
I'm sure we have some very attractive resources we can use. Platinum and Gold not very enticing? Unless if them Anglo Americans have sucked us dry.

Do you not know about the Bushs at all??? There is nothing as lucrative as black oil. You can run a country without platinum and gold, the same can't be said about fossil fuels.

When it comes to the US, they are very willing to give up their moral high ground for oil.

It doesn't say which signs or how often. It also doesn't indicate an increase or decrease, whether they are new signs or old.

All that proves is that they farm out tenders to private companies rather than the council workers. This leaves the door open to corruption, because there may be a link between these companies and a council employee. It also opens the door for abuse. There is also a lack of accountability with private contractors. They can come and do some work digging up a pavement and leave it in a complete, cheap, hasty mess and there is NO comeback.

Can you comment on the fact that the council no longer paints SLOW/STADIG on the road surface. I've been told it's now policy.

BS, the western countries (notably USA ) trade with Saudi Arabia. King Abdulah has 4 wives and 21 children....:D
Let's ask Timgaul how many fiancées he has.:p

Suckyboy, even if I showed images of each road, street, and pavement being improved along with detailed tender documents you would not be happy.

You are just permanently unhappy and can't stand being wrong...but by now it seems you have become used to it.

The facts are above, read them or don't them.

When was the last time you ventured outside of CT?
The whole of Gauteng roads area a construction site...but I don't hear any trumpets yet...
It's just gvt doing what they are supposed to do, with the taxpayers' money

Your rudeness is noted.

Your so-called 'facts' have no sources/links to back them. Anyone can write some figures on a forum. You also don't tell us where you got them or whether we can find them. They also don't prove anything, as I have explained. I love being wrong, because that's how I/we learn, but just saying without foundation is just silly. Again, if I notice that the council is not replacing stolen signs in our area, cleaning off graffiti, not painting roads (even after a request), repairing roads badly -- then doesn't that show something? Certainly it was better before and that's my whole point.

You can't argue with this guy. He's obviously linked to the city and can't stand criticism of his employer. He comes out with wacky unsubstantiated figures and calls them fact.
The best one was that the city didn't have to pay in towards the 2010 stadium.. Now the city has had to cut it's road maintenance budget because they have no money in the kitty because ... yes, you guessed it .... 2010!! He's all DA spin.:rolleyes:

The DA has my vote. Helen Zille has given the South African political landscape a air of legitimacy. Gone are the days of Tony Leon's reactionary politics. This woman has proved herself a good leader and has rectified alot of the ANC cock ups in the Cape Metropole. M***eto left the CMC in turmoil and disarray. I say, Helen has done a hell of a job with the City now lets give the ol girl the Province and slowly the ruling party will realise that step by step they are losing there grip on power. VOTE DA VOTE TO WIN

I work in Corporate Actuarial if you really need to know.

That doesn't change the fact that in each and every forum, you spew rubbish after rubbish after.....rubbish. Like the other forums, you NEVER bring anything new to the debate, rather more of the same, even when presented with hard cold facts.

<sarcasm>

My word capetownguy, you obviously have hours and hours of free time to come up with "facts" and "figures"; of course capetownguy made them up, all to just entertain you.

</sarcasm>

The facts and figures are far better than anything you have ever given us.

@capetownguy, don't bother, I think you have done a good enough job to convince the majority of this forum about the work the DA is doing in Cape Town.

Besides, every time I go on holiday to Cape Town I am awed by how well it is run compared to where I live. There you go, an outsiders opinion.

Hehehe, explains the mountains of facts and figures ;p

Maybe now, he'll shut his gob. Of course what I see happening is Suckboy claiming these are biased and one-sided, not externally verified, etc, etc.

But as I've already said, you just need to go to Cape Town to understand how much better the city is run.

Its not mountains of facts. Its 2 seconds away.

www.capetown.gov.za ->Supply Chain Management->Tenders
Cut and Paste in a few seconds.

Yes I have an interest in Cape Town and the facts of an efficiently run city. Most of the facts though have already appeared at www.skyscrapercity.com

You don't live in the City, so your extreme assertions that everything you say about it must be the absolute last word is breathtaking. Obviously capetownguy has an axe to grind since he's admitted working for the city, what else would he say?

Do I need to provide a pension number or work number to prove I work in Corporate Actuarial and have no links to the city.

I have NEVER said I work for the city.

Again more RUBBISH.

Thanks for the links. Kindly in future provide these for all your figures. It still doesn't prove that they are spending more or replacing lost/stolen/broken signs. It merely tells us the spend. In fact, policy is missing as well. I asked you if it were policy not to paint the roads with STADIG/SLOW. Are you prepared to find out, since you are there?

You a vindictive, bitter little person aren't you? You say if you live in the city and praise it you work for the DA. If you don't live in the city and praise it, you don't have a say.

Still waiting for your links, Suckboy. Or it this just a one way street?

Could someone PLEASE just put up a stop sign on this guy's street...

Wrong. I live in Cape Town, you do not. I try not to insult the person I'm debating with, which always allows for a more pleasant exchange.

If I worked for Microsoft, I would also be singing their praises, not matter whether the rest of the technical world can see their faults. Pinch of salt for the name-calling, claims and rants from a council official (alleged). Sourcing quotes from another forum is also not wise.
