So we experienced downtime with Afrihost in Durban on 15 August between 3-4 pm.

Also the service has been erratic with random disconnects and packet loss for a month now.

When I queried this with support they denied there was a problem.
They said it was because I turned my modem off and on. Wtf!!

I met a friend on Wed morning who also confirmed there was an issue on Tuesday.

I am considering canceling my service now.

Also from Durban and I had the same problem, multiple days, around the same time. Tuesday, I made a note of the time, it came back at 4.10pm. Did not bother calling them. Everyone at Afrihosts call centre, only know how to restart the router. I'm also considering other options. Such a pain to move though, easier to complain lol. Luckily I keep my line with Telkom, makes it a bit easier to move ISP.

Let me know how it goes.

joserita

I'm in JHB and have been having issues with Afrihost since we had it installed in May.... I can tell my printer to print wirelessly and I can get onto the net but no emails will download - not on any of my laptops (MAC, Compaq & HP). No help from anyone... Vuma tell me its an Afrihost problem, Afrihost 'either' tell me it's a Vuma problem or that my router is faulty. Aaaghhhhh can't someone just fix the damn problem!!!

We did experience a brief issue on our network on the East on Tuesday. The problem lasted for about 30 minutes before it was resolved which was quicker than we could update the notice on our site after confirmation. I'm sorry that you were affected.

I can certainly assure you that our Support Team do not intentionally lie. The issue was brief and, as such, it's possible that the technician on the phone was possibly not aware of the general issue and only saw your most recent radius log which probably indicated that it was closed by your hardware.

I'm sorry that this has made you consider cancelling, but I can assure you that we're always open to answering any questions and help with getting any issue resolved.

That really doesn't sound like an ideal situation. :( Please PM me your open references with the Team and I'll make sure it gets looked at.

Thanks for the feedback. Its better than "nothing's wrong" and I look stupid. :)

You guys for real. Being blacklisted for what, stating your problem. Conspiracy theory.
Some of us (me included) have had multiple posts and threads deleted so it is unfortunately not a theory :-(

Oh a young one.

Much you will learn

Lol, far from young ;). I'm not naive also. I've been reading about Afrihost and what people think of it on MYBB. But i wouldn't think, this thread is so bad. But yes very young on MYBB. I need to start learning fast.

Really??
So an issue on multiple days goes and your support team who should be the pinnacle of technical knowledge is unaware of any issues.

And the fact that forumites are taking of deleted threads are not indicative of gross dissatisfaction of afrihost service??

I've screenshot this thread in case of deletion

Multiple days? As mentioned in my reply, the outage lasted about 30 minutes. Sometimes consultants are busy on individual support calls for longer than that, so it can be understood how some might have missed the realtime communication.

If you have an issue lasting multiple days, it's certainly very alarming! I'd love to take a look at your individual issue and help you troubleshoot. Feel free to drop me a PM with your info.
