Why is Lion beer so cheap?

I had Lion for the first time in a looooong time over the weekend. Our PnP sells the quarts at R10 on the dot each, so I took one. Figured it can't be THAT bad. Was pleasantly surprised. It's a nice, light lager. I can't believe you can get them at that price for a case - it's a steal. Definitely picking some up soon!

I went to Tops and wanted to grab a few quarts. I noticed the Lions were R10.99 each, while the Castle and Black Label were gonig for R15.99.

Why is that?
