Why on earth do VODACOM cut of the 111 number (customer care) as well when they suspend your account???

That is just being silly. Even Telkom got this one right...

Or do they not want their customers to come back and pay their accounts?

Anyways, I know this is not the correct online forum to complain about this, but do anybody perhaps have a url or something where I can complain?

Thanks

When your account is suspended you are BARRED from making any outgoing calls. The same goes for making a call to 111.

Try HelloPeter;)

But you may want to read this first.

Or surely he knows someone else with a Vodacom sim, there are after all 20 million+ of us:D

That is exactly what I did (in fact I used my own second sim that I use for 3G)

But my point is, if I am a service provider, I would make every effort to allow my clients to pay their account. Blocking the account enquiries number is stupid. That way the client can call the number and ask what is wrong with his account, then go "oh..." and pay the account....

Everything cant be done over the phone. There's the risk of fraud. How does that consultant over the phone know you're the actual customer? And no, even if you pass the authentification, there's no way of knowing if you're still really that person?

That's why you gotta go to your nearest Cellular Dealer(Advisably where you took out your contract) and get it sorted.

IMO you've gone off on a tangent there - but you do have one valid point: customers need to contact their cellular service provider about billing issues, and not everyone on the Vodacom network is a VSP customer.

On many occasions I have called 111 and 155 from a different MSISDN to the one I was calling about, and the call centre people were able to telephonically confirm my identity to their satisfaction, and have done all sort of things for me from adding data bundles to billing queries and other stuff where my account was charged for what I requested to have done.

You appear to be arguing that calls from a VSP customer to the VSP Billing|Accounts on 111, prior to that customer's account suspension, can be authenticated [presumably you meant based on the MSISDN CallerID that the call centre people see], whilst calls from that same customer from a different number after their account suspension cannot be authenticated, and what Wolfling is trying to say is that when a VSP customer's account is suspended, all incoming and outgoing calls should be suspended except calls to & from 111.

It is debateable about the authentication, but understood aswell.

Maybe Vodacom should list 111 and 155 as emergency numbers? (Only in case of account suspension)

Does 147 work with a suspended Vodacom SIM card? - it should not since 147 is a chargeable call to cut down on crank calls.

112 should work as a function of the phone itself, i.e. even without a SIM card, add or remove 911 and 999 etc depending on the phone's firmware.

What's 147? Number looks so familiar...

[searchforum]147[/searchforum] is Vodacom's emergency assistance helpline number...

Regarding account and billing related queries? Or like 911 type of emergencies?

Anyways, wouldnt know if it worked, i subscribe to MTN(Always have).
