No good reason is merely an opinion. And the fact is that there have been multiple radical shifts in the way Windows works, where things are and how it looks. When I moved a non-computer person from XP to Windows 7 I had to show them where everything had gone and the features of the new Start Menu. The fact is that anyone can very quickly learn how to use Windows 8. I understand that some people are just lazy, to an extreme. Those are the people who refuse to ever learn anything new, which is really their loss. The point is that if we pandered to those people there would be no change. If you are not of geeky disposition, why would you be wanting to learn something new? For no good reason?
So let's advocate playing it safe. That's always been great for progress.Microsoft needs to remember that when you force people to make drastic changes to how they do things, the change they choose may just not be the one you want.
Except Vista never went away. All the radical changes in Vista went into Windows 7. Windows 7 is really Vista 2.You left out Netware and Wordperfect.
It'll probably help if you read the original post. Its funny how anytime somebody criticizes Win8, the apologists always claim it is because we refuse to learn anything new.
The options are right there, at least as accessible as they were in Windows 7 (which in my opinion is less than they were in XP). And shutting down is a mission? What, you need three people standing on their heads yodelling while they turn their keys simultaneously?options are too out of the way, navigation is a chore with a mouse, shutting down is a mission etc.
