Why middle-aged men must do 40 push-ups

Try doing them after 30... Ford tough.
LOL. After 30? I'm 39 (well turning 39 in march) and I can still do pups, but I prefer a decent kettle bell routine and I swapped my pushups for double kettle bell plank rows seeing all of it is already cover in the rest of the routine.

There are better options towards efficiency than just "do 40" or "100 a day".

Showoff. But this did get me doing a few in the office just now. When did pushups become so tough?
I suppose its tough for the now-generation?

I can't do that many pushups in one go, but I sure can run 10km at a reasonable pace.

Men would do better by reading more books than doing more pushups.

Variety, the spice of life :)

I have been running and cycling for over 10 years now, and have taken up squash over the last 2 years.

But 3 years ago, I joined a cardio class at the gym that utilised a lot of plyometrics, I only did the program for about 6 months - but in that time, I never felt so fit, healthy, energised and over all well in my life. We used to do a lot of push-ups.
