Why no Ipad deals through cellular providers

I always keep an eye out for combination Ipad + data deal from one of the cell providers but never see any.

I see them advertising Galaxy Tabs, Dell Streaks etc. but never any Ipads.

Is this due to there simply being no stock for cell companies as everything seems to get sold out the second
it hits a retail store?
 
Vodacom gonna be offering BB phones plus playbooks soon. Should be running from next month but uncomfirmed still
 
I heard a while back that MTN had the iPad (original) available but only through MTN direct.
 
it might have something to with Core being the sole distributors of Apple in S.A hence only core can sell ipads

If IC and Kalahari.net can sell iPads, I'm sure there is no real reason why the cellular providers can't do the same. Maybe we're all missing something here :confused:

IC is a "authorized" reseller, they are simply selling directly via Core, hence why you will notice the pricing you see at IC & DionWired & iStores are identical and are the Core prices. As seen here : http://www.core.co.za/secondary.html

Kalahari on the other hand is importing their ipads, you will notice they are wayyyeee overpriced, like R1.5k more expensive than the local Core pricing.

So this is actually one of those situations where Core/Retailers are now cheaper than the entire online + import market on ipads. Trust me, you will not find the ipad online for cheaper or even the same price as the local Core resellers

Thanks for the reply! I'm still wondering though, is there a good reason why cellular providers can't become authorized resellers? Or why they wouldn't want to be authorized resellers?
 
You can take any PC in an IC store on a Vodacom Data contract. Check inside a IC advertisement that comes with your local paper they even give you a breakdown of your monthly repayments depending on the cost of the PC.
 
my fiance happily showed me that cellucity will be offering Ipads on "deals" I saw the pamphlet with my own eyes (no-one elses heheh )
