Why oh Why ?

The majority of drivers in Cape Town drive like they're very stoned.

if it looks like a duck & walks like a duck . . . . . .

hell, we don't even mind too much when gp drivers approach, traveling the wrong way down a one-way road - no wet panty's, no nappy rash !

Sometimes the driver in the fast car is an idiotic driver with no forward vision. The slow car in front of him would like to move over but there's vehicles in the left lane. So he needs to slow down further to come in from behind or speed up to try and pass them....all this while mister flashing, hooting, idiot can only swear

103 people died on the roads so far, this eater. And people still wanna drive fast and drive people of the roads with their Fortuners, BMW and Mercs.
Today again, this Fortuner ass-c@nt, over took a string of cars that was behind a truck. Long bend to the left, he couldn't see fookol. 2 cars on coming had to go on the yellow line to get out of deaths way.
All I saw was this sturvey c@nts wife, face with large goggle sun glasses staring at us peasants, as he swooped by.
Guess I call that a close encounter, if he colided with that on coming traffic, he would've taken me along.

people need to see a whole lot more of this on tv
the real thing off dashcams:

Why do people not just move over to the slow lane /left lane if you want to drive slow? esp at night - you can clearly see at night when someone is coming up behind you from a distance why still drive as slow as fck and not move over ? :D

Is there a VW Chiti Golf code of conduct Ive noticed this a few times in cpt : |

Rant over

If you were in such a hurry, why didnt you just overtake on the left? I know you arnt allowed, but why didnt you.

I am driving in the right hand lane constantly passing traffic in the left. There's a string of cars ahead of me in the right hand hand lane all going 120.

I leave a safe following distance between me and the car ahead of me in the right hand lane. Some douche-nozzle comes speeding past in the left hand lane then swings back in front of me to avoid hitting the slow moving traffic in the left. Or even better, the chop comes driving 2mm from the back of my car flashing me to move over. It actually happened on my way back yesterday a guy did this *while* I was passing a few trucks on the left. The level of stupid cannot be fathomed.

It's not restricted to any particular make. The majority of drivers in Cape Town drive like they're very stoned. Spotting a driver who pulls away immediately from lights and stop streets, accelerates to the speed limit briskly and corners faster than a dead snail around Cape Town is a rare occurrence.

Owns an MX5, but drives slowly in the wrong lane and then performs a criminally negligent act. One day he will cause an accident, and then he'll have to explain his actions.

Brake checking is not criminally negligent at all. You might have seen a shadow which looked like a dog running across the road? The onus is on the person behind to be able to avoid the driver in front NO MATTER WHAT HE DOES.

Since you are meant to keep 2 car spaces between you and the car in front of you, you are right.

There's a hell of a difference between brake checking and slamming on brakes in front of someone, they way that chop did to me on Thursday. ( See Bad Driving Thread)

If someone is tailgating me, and I cannot move over, I put my hazards on to warn him, then I gently brake until he gets the message. It is totally beyond my comprehension that so many Cretins cannot see when a person in the right lane cannot pull over due to traffic conditions.

As far as the OP goes, if the Golf was sitting in the right lane at 120 then he was actually within his rights to stay there, however, before everyone gets hysterical, we do have a speed limit in this poor country, and the majority of the drivers out there think it relates to everyone except themselves.

If he's "blocking" the right lane at 120, then, unless you are trying to get to the hospital because your wife is having a baby, you should actually sit behind him at 120, and stop trying to break the law. If you genuinely need to get past, flash the guy a couple of times, and you will find that he will more often than not, pull over. Ducking past him on the left, then aggressively cutting him off is actually against the law.

My problem with some law abiding citizen hogging the fast lane at 120 is that they are not part of law enforcement. Blocking the guy that wants to drive faster is in no way beneficial to you. Move over when possible, let him fly past, continue on your merry way. All you're doing is getting yourself into a potentially dangerous situation that is easily avoided. If he kills himself/gets a fine/is locked up for the night then that's his business.

By the same token, people that tailgate/flash when you can clearly not move over get under my skin.

People being arseholes.Get used to it, because there are more and more arseholes being born every minute.

Sitting in the right lane when there's space in the left is also against the law, no matter how fast you're going.
As for the slamming on the brakes thing - what if there actually was a reason for him to do that - such as a hazard in the road? Would you have been able to avoid him? If not, you're at fault.

Did you read what I wrote in the Bad Driving thread?

When a Cretin SLAMS on brakes for absolutely no reason at all with NO traffic in front of him, then repeats it three times, because he was upset that I flashed him for cutting me off in the first place, I WILL report him to the police for reckless and dangerous driving, as well as intent to inflict bodily harm on all of the people caught up in the accident HE caused!

I was NOT in the wrong, HE was from the second he nearly hit me whilst slicing in front of me from the left.

I can just see Fazda freakin out while this guy is brake checking him.
Braveheart style; wait for it, wait for it, waaaaait for it - NOW!

And to do it 3 times, I bet he was having a laugh.
If you go into the back of someone after they brake, you are to blame 100% according to the law. Keep your following distance.

You couldn't resist the dig couldn't you?

You are worse than a little girl in a Primary School playground.

Not if he cut you off.

If he cut you off, and immediately slammed the brakes then you are indeed correct. You could not have avoided it.
But if he cuts you off and out of anger you drive up his arse, he brakes and you go diving into his bum, it is unfortunately your fault.

Actually it's not that black and white and in many cases especially with witnesses present the person who did the braking walks away as the guilty party.

Even with perfect following distance there is a reasonable ability to stop required which if someone is doing 120 and then slams on the brakes with nothing in front of them simply doesn't apply.

And if someone has a dash cam and gets brake check...well that's the end of that for the checker.
