WHY Serie A is better then EPL

just seem to be one step behind all the time but that is usual...
in other areas of my life also settled for 2nd best, not sulking ok!....

It should just be called Premier League. There's nothing English about it. 
I like the EPLeague but remove the quality foreign players and it will suddenly look like a watered down B league.
I don't doubt Serie A's standard nor those of the competitions in South America but it's a fact that the EPL is simply marketed better, there's so much money involved in it that in the end it just ends up being a better entertainment package for a worldwide audience.
But when it comes to success achieved then the English Premier League fall way behind their counterparts in the rest of Europe. On average.
If you look at the top clubs in Europe and the success rate of the countries during the last 100 years, then England don't even feature, except for 1966. 1 or 2 clubs in England are consistent enough to be competitive year in year out but for most part italian clubs end up on top.
Easy example, look at the results of the Champions League over the last 20 years. English clubs have won it 3 times only! They don't even feature. The rest of the winners are dominated by either italian, spanish or german teams. AC Milan has won it the most (5 times) during that period and were runner-up a few times as well so there's no disputing their status as a top notch club in Europe.
I thought the English were fanatic about their football until I arrived at the World Cup in Italy in 1990. Madness on another level.

Exactly, the past 20 years, Liverpool was the reason English clubs were banned for 5 yrs causing a loss of ground in competitiveness. Before that time I will indeed study your comment...

TB, obviously I'm going use the most recent results and the last two decades were sufficient. Nothing you say will change history, the italian teams have dominated in the recent past (when compared directly to English clubs) and that's just the way it is. I'm not for or against italian football, I just stated a few simple facts.
But I like your English clubs should have, would have, if only etc. argument. Cute. It holds no water and definitely doesn't take anything away from how successful italian teams have been.
Your Liverpool excuse reminds me of the English rugby fraternity. They never actually win anything but oh, they always 'should have'!

Come on Trottie... the game I actually support is RUGBY... In a timespan of 60 years the Blue Bulls also known as Northern Transvaal won the CC 17 times and shared it 3 times, holders 20 times ! Tell that to the anti-bull club, they just squeek a bit, a mark of a great province...

I just made a comment regarding the lack of success of the English rugby team since their football team isn't doing well either. It was an obvious comparison to make since English football is discussed on this thread.

Using 60 years of Bulls rugby in the Currie Cup as an example to prove a point about timespan is quite amusing because if you had a closer look at the stats, then you would have noticed that since the inception of the Currie Cup competition (therefore making your 60 year timespan even bigger), WP has actually won 32 times, Bulls only 22 (both shared 4 times). So using your own argument, WP must be fantastic too I guess. But again, this has nothing to do with Italian Serie A results.
Just like the fact that the following also has nothing to do with football results: The Bulls are remarkable yes but clearly not without fault - they lost almost all their matches during the Super 12 from 1998 right through to 2002. You got a Bulls season ticket at the Spur for free with every kiddie meal ordered.
Remember those days? Let me guess, nope? The worst run of any rugby team in the world, ever. No wait, the English rugby team lost something like 24 out of 29 away matches before the last world cup. Don't worry, I just threw that in for fun since you insist on talking about Bulls rugby when european football was the actual discussion.
It's not a contest TB, just look at the italian results and compare them to the english club results in european competitions and it's clear that the italians were very successful so far, even though they play a decidedly defensive game which isn't always very attractive, I agree. But then again, Italy's captain Cannavaro was European Footballer of the Year in 2006 as well as FIFA Player of the Year and he's a defender, so defensive football obviously has some merit.

I ran a quick scan on the champions league suprisingly since introducing the round robin in 1992 the first eight years belonged to the Italian clubs.
7 finalists and 2 champions... La Liga second with 3 finalists and 2 champions.
The last 8 years the EPL shows itself, La liga with 5 finalists and 3 champions, the Scalari with 4 finalists and 2 champions and the EPL with 3 finalists and 1 champion...
La Liga although not much talked about seem to be the league to watch...

I indeed have no problem with defensive football,... play-acting kills me, that is why I watch the EPL.
Play-acting takes place in the English game but certainly not on the same scale than in any of the other european leagues...
Christiano Ronaldo I believe is reaching his potential as player because his chances to be an actor is minimalised. No wonder Queros rates him higher than Ka ka...

I agree. But somehow the EPL seems to be more popular. I have no idea why. Better marketing to a global audience? The standard of football played is obviously not bad but I agree that La Liga is a stronger league. Their results in Europe are proof of that.

Just because there were lots of goals in 1 game does'nt mean jack ****.There are a big debate many years ago.I think it was the 1995 champions league game between Ajax vs pananikos.At the same time there was a EPL game , Newcastle beat liverpool 4-3.The Ajax game ended 1 -0.Both the games were anaylized by respected football brains.The Ajax vs Pana game was judged much better then the Newcastle vs Liverpool game.
Chelsea 4 Liverpool 4.Why so many goals ? Bad goal keeping and bad defending.Enough said.
